Flying Start Nurseries are DELIGHTED to ACHIEVE their HEALTHY WORKPLACE GOLD again! 

What an amazing achievement! 

This celebrates the continual work we do to try to best support our staff.

We truly believe if we invest in our staff’s physical and mental health, their wellbeing, their continued training and development of their skills then we get the best out of them and they give the best to your children!
Sometimes a wellbeing hamper in the staff room is needed, a delivery of cookies for that end of week boost, a step challenge between staff or personal support for a specific issue! We are flexible to our staff needs and we think this is the best approach we can take.
Thankyou Healthy Workplace for our award, we will continue our efforts to best support our employees!

Flying Start Nurseries are updating their Families….

Please see below the important update, giving you answers to questions we have been asked lots in our first week with 6 nurseries open.

If you wish to book your child in for July or now want your child in for June please get in touch with your Nursery ASAP… we hope to be able to stay open in all of these 6 nurseries but we need your advance bookings to make this possible.

Flying Start Nurseries Celebrates 26 Years!
We are delighted to celebrate that Flying Start Nurseries turns 26 years old today!!🎉
Sharon & Steve Cowburn would like to express a huge thank you to all the staff, families, and children who have been a part of Flying Start over the years, and who join them today in celebrating 26 years!

 
A particularly special mention goes to the amazing staff members who have worked for Flying Start for the whole 26 years, or were original staff who have returned to the company! And also to members of staff who were previously children in the nursery – wow!!
 
Today and throughout this week, the nurseries will be celebrating the nursery anniversary – and the birthday of the little girl in our logo who we call Flora!
 
Here is to many more years of providing a ‘Flying Start to lifelong learning’!

Flying Start Nurseries Win Silver Award For Healthy Workplaces!
Flying Start Nurseries are delighted to win the Silver Award for Healthy Workplaces, in the first year of attempting this award!
 
Flying Start were particularly recognised for:
 
 Wellbeing wall and wellbeing boxes for staff to access which include magazines, colouring and puzzle books
 Staff away day, including beach games
 Ensuring staff can talk openly about their mental health
 Training 38 members of staff in Level 2 Mental Health Awareness
 Training all Senior Staff in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
  The CEO is a qualified MHFA trainer
 
The whole company is delighted to gain this Healthy Workplace Award, and all staff will continue to focus on the physical and mental health of their colleagues and all of the children!

Flying Start Managers & Team Leaders Attend Annual Away Day!

 

At Flying Start, we pride ourselves on offering our staff extensive development opportunities. And one of the highlights of the calendar for our Managers and Team Leaders, is our Annual Away Day!

 

 

The Managers and Team Leaders from our nurseries across Cornwall and Plymouth came together for a day themed around ‘Healthy Workplace’.

 

 

 

They took part in a morning of workshop sessions that included developing 5 year forward plans, and innovative training sessions led by the Senior Team.

 

The staff will take their new learning back to their staff, to cascade to all of our nursery teams!

 

 

In the afternoon, it was time to head outside onto the beach and get active in the fresh air – an essential part of the Healthy Workplace initiative! They kicked off with a problem solving activity that demanded communication and lots of teamwork…

 

…And then enjoyed games of rounders and volleyball in teams! There was lots of encouragement, and lots of fun had by all!

 

 

They finished the day with a good old game of Tug Of War!

 

 

A huge thanks to the Senior Team for organising such a brilliant Away Day, and to all our Managers & Team Leaders for attending with such enthusiasm as always!
