Flying Start @ Cornwall College Go Shopping!

The preschool children have set up a Fruit and Vegetable Shop Roleplay recently and have been using it to develop their imagination based on their first hand experiences of going shopping.

They have been developing their awareness of all different fruit and vegetables and then make marks to ‘write’ their shopping lists, get a bag and then use their list to fill up! They have started talking about what they can make with their produce and how it helps make them healthy!

Last week the children went to Tesco’s to buy their fruit and vegetables for the role play corner…

Using their checklists they ticked off what they could find in Tesco’s,

Weighing their fruit and vegetables in scales and counting out how much they needed to buy..

Before using the self scanners, waiting for the beep, bagging it correctly (this took some practice!) and then counting out their money!

This was really good practice and helped to inform the children of how to play in the roleplay back at nursery, as well as helping to restock the shelves!

Next the children are going to plan their own recipes using their shop to stock up the ingredients!
