Flying Start @ Cornwall College celebrate Chines New Year!

This week Preschool have been celebrating Chinese New Year. We have learned how to say hello and happy new year in Chinese and have explored what the year of the ox means with their lucky numbers and colours. In a tray we had red rice so that we could practice tracing Chinese numbers with chop sticks. We’ve also been very creative. We made lanterns and drums, and a dragon that we danced with to Chinese music. The children have also been exploring numbers, matching the number of gold coins to the Chinese numbers on money wallets. As it’s the year of the ox, we made ox finger puppets. Finally, we had a tasty Chinese snack consisting of noodles, spring rolls and prawn crackers. Yum!
