Flying Start @ Cornwall College Practice Their Self Care Knowledge In Baby Play!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Preschool Department have been developing their health and self care awareness and routines throughout last half term, and now continuing this learning through the next half term.

The children have made posters to promote hand washing, learnt about the important of toilet hygiene and killing germs, practised putting their own shoes welly boots and coats on and now learning how to do their own zips as well, to promote that next step of independence!

What can your child do for themselves at home? Let their key worker know so that it can inform their learning journey at nursery!

Recently the children have used their learning through playing with dollies and babies, developing their play from the usual Mummy, Dad and Baby games to full hygiene routines!

The children washed dollies, using warm water and bubbles and carefully using sponges and flannels, whilst discussing killing germs to help to avoid illness!

Then they dried the babies, drying all little cracks and crevices to avoid any rashes, remembering that they must do the same at their bath times, some even remembered a funny fluffy powder their parents use on them…Talcum Powder!

After nappies, clothes, cuddles and bottles the babies were ready for bed!

Encourage your child to try to do things for themselves at home, and let nursery know of any developments so we can celebrate their achievements too!
