Flying Start @ Cornwall College Upper Preschool’s start to the new term!

This week in Upper Preschool we have began looking at our room intention of personal, social and emotional development and the theme of culture and diversity.

We began by doing self-portraits whilst practicing our fine motor skills. We had a look at our faces in the mirror and thought about what shapes we needed to draw to construct our face. We then extended our learning and took the activity outside to do large scale art of ourselves. We took it in turn to draw around ourselves on the floor and labelled our body parts and discussed how our body shapes looked different to each other.

We then spoke about the different kinds of people that we see in our lives and looked at their similarities and differences. We agreed that everyone is different and that is ok, it is our uniqueness that makes us special.

We have also been working on our own personal skills whilst engaging in cooking club this week. We made orange shortbread, and they were delicious!
