Flying Start @ Duchy Focus On ‘Being Themselves’!
At Flying Start @ Duchy, they have been focussing on ‘being ourselves’ as a theme for their learning and exploring…
The children have been creating their own faces on paper plates using various materials to do so. They have been using mirrors to look at their skin tone, eye colour, hair colour etc.
Whilst doing all of this, they have been having lots of discussions around being ourselves and how it is okay to look differently to each other!
Parents have really supported this idea and have also been talking to their children about it at home too!
And look at this wonderful display the staff made of all the great self-portraits!
To support the younger children with this theme, they have also been using puppets and emotion stones to talk about how they are feeling and what that feels like.
Following on from this they have also been using crayons to mark make emotions and playdough to create faces!
