Flying Start’s Learning @ Home: Making Bird Feeders!

Preschool children have been practicing their fine motor skills, threading hoop cereal onto string or pipe cleaners to make bird feeders…

Some children practiced their counting skills as they threaded each hoop, some made different shaped bird feeders, some identified the different shades of dark and light brown they could see in the hoops and some talked about who might want to nibble their bird feeder!

The whole family joined in here.. with a baby sister doing some fantastic threading…

Then on their daily walk the children hunted for the best place to hang the birdfeeder, some went high, some went low and some families left several in an experiment to see which was eaten first!
     

In the garden some children made a den and became bird watchers for a while, waiting and waiting to see who came for a little snack!
