Hapa Zome is a Japanese art activity meaning leaf-dye, which involves pounding plants including grasses and flowers to release their natural colour pigment… and Flying Start @ Marjon have been giving it a go!
They invited parents and families to come into nursery to join in, and have a go at ‘Hapa Zome’ too, and the staff team set up all the tools outside in the nursery garden!
The children used plants, berries, petals, and water to make the beautiful colours on pieces of material, and create their own works of art!
The children really enjoyed getting stuck in and creative – and especially using the mallets!
What wonderful creativity – and a chance to try out art styles & traditions from around the world!
