Flying Start @ Marjon Exploring Their Natural Surroundings…
Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting outside to explore!
The children have been exploring the weather, their new building on site, their garden and their local environments when out on regular walks!
Through this exploration there has been lots of opportunities to discuss safety and how we can keep ourselves safe…
Earlier last week the children found lots of ice in the garden, they broke it up and collected it into their tray and used their hands and utensils to move it around whilst watching and feeling it melt!
The children talked about how to be safe when it was icy, being careful not to slip on the ground or the tyres on our cars getting slippy so needing to be extra careful.
Then later on in the week the children found some big logs and tree stumps!
The children worked together to roll them forward and pile them up, creating a pretend barbecue!
The children explored safety decisions through their play with some support from the grown ups, discussing not to get too close once it was lit, pretending to light it and keeping safe distances, discussing how it felt hot and might burn!
What great natural learning experiences that have developed safety awareness!
