Flying Start @ Marjon Squeeze Squeeze Squeeze!
Flying Start @ Marjon have been transporting their sensory this week!
Usually the children use spades and trowels, or cars and diggers, saucepans, jugs and buckets to transport their dried sensory such as sand and pasta. But this week the children have been transporting water!
The water play using sponges was encouraging strengthening their hand muscles and therefore fine motor skill development, as well as their hand eye coordination, encouraging physical movement through their play and of course encouraging getting a bit wet and wild!
The children were squeezing their sponges into a bowl, then soaking them in water watching how they expanded and discussing if they then felt heavier.. dashing to the next bowl squeezing all of the water out and observing how much was transported. The children then looked at how much water was lost on their travels! (And when colanders and sieves were introduced the water really was flowing!)
