Flying Start @ Penryn Weigh It Up In The Garden!

Flying Start @ Penryn have been using measuring scales outside!

The purpose built set of scales is in the garden ready to measure different quantities of different materials to see which is heavier or lighter.

The children carefully transport their material usually sand, soil or water and then pour it into one end of the scales, as it tips they then guess how much of a different material they need in the other side to balance it out!

This is great hands on active learning with lots of trial and error, opportunities to make predictions and keeping on trying until it balances out!
