Flying Start @ Penryn’s Science in Action!
Flying Start @ Penryn have been putting their science into action… and into food!
The toddlers have been exploring mixing liquids, with colourings and seeing the changes! Learning that they can guess what is going to happen!
They have also been mixing different consistencies, adding more liquid as they go and finding out it gets easier to mix.
Here the children were mixing colourings to find the perfect colour for some cupcakes they were baking!
The pre-schoolers have been making soup in their cooking club, they chopped and prepared the vegetables before discussing what needed to happen to the vegetables to turn it into soup,
The children were guided to think about how we could make the hard carrots and turnip soft and able to be whizzed together to make soup.
The children discussed how really hot water cooks the vegetables, and when they are cooked they feel and taste different, especially softer!
The children checked the soup lots prodding the vegetables to see if they were soft yet, soft enough to mash and then soft enough to whizz into a soup… then they just couldn’t wait so ate their soup for snack!
