Flying Start @ Redruth Visit The Post Office & Sorting Depot!

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Redruth are exploring the topic ‘People Who Help Us’. As part of this theme, the children and staff went on a special trip into Redruth to visit the post office and then the sorting depot!

With the help of the staff, the children posted a parcel in the post office which they weighed first, and then counted out their money for…

    

Then they all went to the post sorting depot, where a helpful guide called Mr. Barnes gave them a special tour! He talked to the children about how the mail comes into the depot in sacks based on the area its going to and they sort it into each houses individual slot on the shelf before going out for delivery by the postman…

Mr Barnes even showed Rufus the post that was going to his house!

The children drew pictures and wrote their names on pieces of paper, which they put into an envelope with a stamp on and wrote nurseries address…

On the walk back to nursery they posted their letter. They are all excited to see how long it takes to be delivered!
