Flying Start @ Saltash Explore Mindfulness For ‘World Mental Health Day’!
Flying Start @ Saltash enjoyed a pack day of activities in honour of World Mental Health Day…
The day started with a warm up session of soft play, jumping , stretching and
lots of laughter coming from the children and the Saltash team! They also got outside and played football  in the garden- and enjoyed the benefits of fresh air and exercise!

Using the Mindfulness technique, the staff helped guide the children to explore their senses by looking, listening , tasting and touching!
Kerrie made some spice infused rice and the children listened to the noise of the rice, which some children noticed sounded like the sound of rain… Then the children then had a smell of the rice, which some of they liked and some of them wrinkled their noses at!

Then it was time for the CHOCOLATE… The children were set the challenge of having one large chocolate button each which they had to place on their tongues and not chew or bite it.
Some of them found it really tricky not to gobble it up, but they really enjoyed seeing who could hold it for the longest, and the yummy sensation of the melting chocolate on their tongues! Just look at these fab photos!

They ended the day with some relaxation time, listening to stories about the different emotions we experience, and how its okay to have them, whether they are happy, sad or angry.
Fantastic work, Saltash team, for World Mental Health Day!
