Flying Start @ Camborne Celebrate ‘World Mental Health Day’ With A Day Full Of Activities!

Flying Start @ Camborne enjoyed a busy day full of activities focusing on their feelings and emotions, for World Mental Health Day!

The pre-school and toddler departments explored their emotions by using mirrors, to try out making faces that they might make when they are feeling happy, sad, excited or angry…

The children have been discussing altogether about what they can do when they are feeling sad or angry, and they used their Calm Down poster to get some good ideas…

The pre-school children particularly loved the idea of being a puffer fish if they are feeling angry – and taking a big breath in and blowing all the anger away! They also practised giving themselves a ‘clam cuddle’ when they needed a little reassurance…

…. Then they tried out being shy like a turtle and just popping their head out, and finally they were starfish jumping into the air for when they need to let all their energy out!

Why not have a go trying these out with your child at home!

The after school club also made badges of green ribbons to support mental health, and to show their kindness they made these thoughtful cards with a well-deserved cup of tea inside, to say thank you to the adults that care for them!
