This week our preschool children @ Flying Start Cornwall College have been crazy for snails!
We found a BIG snail in the garden and spoke all about his body parts.. the children proudly named him ‘Simon Michael the snail’
Following on from this we practised our best writing skills to label the parts of a snail and used snail activities during our maths time!
As the weather is warming up and we are spending lots of time at the beach, we have been learning about lifeguards and what their flags mean!
The children have been talking about how the lifeguards look after us at the beach and what we must do to stay safe!

We’ve been creating our own summer stories. We had 4 items in our story box that when working together, we created a story around. Once our story was written, we then drew it on our story board.
The day nursery children have been making butterflies in the garden. They painted their tube with paint, and then added their paper wings to create beautiful butterflies!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been making sensory boards!
Last week the Preschool children were creating story boards. The first thing we did was read our book, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch. We then discussed what happened at the beginning, the middle and the end of the story. We then had a go at drawing the story from memory onto our story boards, using the book as a guide.
Flying Start @ Cornwall College go on a sensory walk!
Some of the Day Nursery children have been on a sensory walk. The youngest babies really enjoy exploring things with their feet, so Lucy set up different trays for them to walk through. The trays included blueberries, sand, water and flowers.

Our youngest Day Nursery children have been enjoying the lovely weather and getting out and about every day!
They took their picnic snack and some stories and went for a walk in the sunshine!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College use chalk to create mosaics!
Preschool have been using chalk to make mosaics in the garden. We mapped out a pattern using masking tape on the floor, and then used chalk to fill in the gaps. Once we peeled the tape away, we were left with our beautiful pattern.
Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been learning about Ramadan!
We discussed the meaning behind Ramadan and why certain people celebrate it. We made star and moon mobiles that we decorated and then looked at different henna patterns and designed our own.
