Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been taking part in the Flying Start growing competition. We have been waiting patiently for our potatoes to grow and finally the time came to harvest them. Look at our amazing potatoes we have grown!!! We then used them to make cheesy, garlic smashed potatoes – yum!
The preschool children @ Flying Start Cornwall College have shown a real interest in different occupations, making a roleplay based on a police station. The children have enjoyed measuring their police officer friends in the roleplay, talking about who is taller and who is smaller. The children have also been speaking to one another using a pair of walkie talkies about where their next emergency is, and then finding the place on the map.
Dementia Awareness Week
The children @ Flying Start Cornwall College have been busy baking and decorating all sorts of yummy cakes and biscuits over the past few days, and today we had a cake sale stay and play.
Thank you to all who came to play! We are very proud to announce that we raised almost £100 for Dementia UK!

Day Nursery @ Flying Start Cornwall College held an Easter themed stay and play. Parents were invited into the nursery to take part in Easter activities with their children. They had lots of fun exploring the playdough and making rice Krispy cakes! Everyone also took part in an Easter egg hunt, and each child went home with a chocolate bunny.
The preschool children at Flying Start Cornwall College have been out outside enjoying the sunshine and doing some gardening. We planted potatoes, blueberry trees and sweet peas. We discussed the different things that plants need to grow. We are excited to watch what happens next!
The preschool children @ Flying Start Cornwall College have been sorting vehicles into different categories. We spoke about the sound each word began with and placed it into the correct circle. We then had to match the word in the circle to a box on our tally chart so that we could mark a line in it. Once all the cars were sorted we practiced our counting and number writing.
The preschool children have been learning about measuring, introducing items such as rulers and a measuring tape. We’ve been measuring different things such as our feet, and how far our car travelled when pushed down a ramp.
Flying Start @ Cornwall College held a reading competition for story telling week. A prize would be awarded to the child who read a book in the most interesting place. We had some many great entries that we couldn’t pick just 1 winner.. so congratulations to these 3 winners. Your prize is on the way to you.
The Day Nursery children @ Flying Start Cornwall College have been using vegetables to paint with. They looked closely at the different shapes and patterns the vegetables made when printing.
The preschool children at Flying Start Cornwall College have been celebrating Valentine’s Day. They have made a range of cards to go home to families and made love potions in the garden. They also enjoyed getting messy in love heart gloop. The children spoke with their key worker and peers about the people and things that they love. They then drew a picture of this on a heart to be hung on our thankful tree.
