Flying Start @ Cornwall College Toddlers Have A Picnic!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been reading their story book ‘Whatever Next’ recently, and they’ve been exploring the story by acting it out…

They turned their snack time into the tea party snack that the bear has in the story – which is a tea party on the moon!

For their tea party on the moon, they each brought a bear along, as well as taking in turns to wear spare helmets!

What a lot of fun!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College Babies Explore Transport Theme!
This term the theme within the baby room at Flying Start @ Cornwall College has been transport. They’ve been looking at different ways to explore this topic using a range of resources!


The children explored how different vehicles make different tracks, using paint and sand! The children also pushed their cars up and down slopes and followed the road on the mat.

In the baby room, they all created a big red bus role play that can be sat in or driven by the children.

They children also got creative and made playdough vehicles using cookie cutters!

And they’ve even been reading stories about transport in the reading corner!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been reading the storybook ‘Whatever Next’…

And then they’ve been exploring the book further, with some really fun role play!

The toddlers built their own spaceship, and have been experiencing what it is like to “whoosh” through space in a rocket, like the bear from ‘Whatever Next’!

They’ve taken it in turn in the spaceship, wearing their special helmets… look how much fun they are having!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College Pre-Schoolers Visit The Ducks!
The pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College went out on a lovely walk to a nearby river!

They popped on their warm clothes, coats, wellies, and high vis jackets – and went out on an adventure to see the ducks…

The children were very excited and chattering about everything they spotted on their trip!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College Visit Heartlands For Christmas Event!
All of the children at Flying Start @ Cornwall College went to Heartlands for a Christmas Treat Afternoon put on by Coastline!

A huge thank you to Coastline, as it was such a lovely event to be a part of and the children loved it!
The staff took 27 children in the first trip and 26 children in the second trip, and walked to Heartlands from Flying Start @ Cornwall College…

They met some real Reindeers on their way, one was called Lowen! They talked about their antlers and how they fall off each year!

Then the children went into the warm to see a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and meet Father Christmas! He had a lovely chat with the children and then was very kind to give them a present before Christmas!

The children then joined in with Christmas crafts and carol singing, and met some big characters including a snowman!

Fantastic festive fun had by all – thank you Heartlands and Coastline, a lovely community event!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College Do Christmas Crafts!
The children at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been doing a whole array of Christmas craft activities!

They’ve been making starry skies, using star print sponges!


They’ve been doing brown handprints, to make cheeky Rudolph pictures!!


As well as making sparkly Christmas trees, holly, Christmas puddings, and Rudolph headbands!

They even used cotton wool to make super fluffy snowmen!

And making baubles, and Christmas trees with pom poms!

They’ve even been making festive star designs in sewing club… look at that amazing concentration!

The babies at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been really enjoying their Christmas crafts!

They did lots of red and white painting using their easel!

And they’ve been dressing up in Santa hats…

…and of course decorating and re-decorating the tree in their beautiful Christmas home role-play!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Host Festive Stay & Play Events!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College have hosted lovely stay and play events for their toddler and pre-school parents and families!

In toddlers, they had lots of Dads, Mums and baby siblings come along and explore…Christmas sparkly gloop, making crackers (with sweetie treats inside!), making Rudolph headbands, making Christmas fairy buns and using lots of glitter (of course!) to make their own decorations to hang on the tree!

You can also see the wonderful toddler environments looking very wintery and inviting!

They have a polar expressed themed cosy den…

and an exciting exploration tuff-spot full of different shapes and size and textures of decorations and tinsel and jingly bells!

Meanwhile, in pre-school, they hosted a Christmas sing along with over 50 relatives attending!!
They read out their Christmas story “Santa is coming to Cornwall” with parents and children and then the children did their beautiful singing, which they had practiced lots!

And then afterwards parents and children hung their decoration that they had decorated at home on the nursery Christmas tree and enjoyed a mince pie treat!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Toddlers Do Yoga!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall have been doing yoga sessions as a regular activity…

Where they try out moving in a variety of different ways, and really stretching to make interesting shapes!

It is a really great way to explore movement, practice following instructions, and have great fun altogether!
