Flying Start @ Cornwall College Do Woodwork With ‘Tinkering’ Tools!
The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been trying out their ‘Tinkering’ woodwork equipment, and making some exciting creations!
The children have been wearing their special protective clothing, and carefully using the tools to hammer in nails and make patterns!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Explore Jungle Roleplay!
Take a look at Flying Start @ Cornwall College’s amazing jungle role play area in their pre-school department !
The preschool children have been learning about their theme ‘All Around The World’ all through the summer holidays… and their final part of the theme was to go to the jungle!
They have created their own hide, where the children lie on their tummies with their binoculars and watch carefully for animals going by and listen for jungle sounds (the CD really helps!).
The children also dress up as animals and re-enact this!
The children have also been learning about where fruit is grown and which countries it has come from… they even used some rainforest and jungle fruits for their focused drawing activities!
Flying Start @ Cornwall College Toddlers Practise Fine Motor Control!
The toddler department at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been doing lots of different exercises and activities to improve their fine motor skills!
They’ve been finding shells and shapes in the sand…
Rolling balls around and dropping them down the chute…
And using the touch table to create some virtual art!

Flying Start Managers Go On Annual Away Day!
The Managers from all of our Flying Start Nurseries got together in Wadebridge for their annual Away Day!
This is a chance for all the managers to train together, enhance and improve areas of their professional practice, and get creative with trying a new skill or activity…
This year, they did a sculpting workshop with acclaimed local sculptor Richard Austin.
They all got stuck in and had a go at crafting these fantastic big clay heads!
Thank you to Richard for the expertise during the workshop, and well done to our managers for their amazing efforts. Thank you also to all our customers and families, for understanding the importance of our annual training day – so that our managers can inspire and lead!
Flying Start Team Leaders Train & Get Creative on Annual Away Day!
The Team Leaders from all of our Flying Start nurseries had a great time on their Annual Away Day… it is a chance for all of our team leaders to get together and train, develop and enhance their practice, as well as try something new or creative!
The Team Leaders got the opportunity to work with local artist Charlie Pollard to explore print techniques, and get creative!
It was a great day of learning and discovery for all – which they will be bringing back to their nurseries to cascade and inspire others!

They’ve been putting objects into colour-coded hopper baskets, and getting better and better at matching them up!

They’ve been painting with lots of lovely blue paints…

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Explore Textures With Seaweed!
The toddler department at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been exploring… SEAWEED!
Taking their shoes and socks off, the children had a go at walking through the seaweed and discussing how it felt around their feet…
Then they had magnifying glasses, and pincers, to explore it further! The children had great fun examining it closely, moving it around, and feeling the textures!
