Flying Start @ Saltash Babies & Toddlers Visit Local Library!

The babies and toddlers at Flying Start @ Saltash have been out on special trips into the community, to visit their local library!

At the library, they have looked at lots of story books, and had story time too!

They also had great fun singing and playing games with the music man! The children had to follow the instructions given in the song, on where to balance their piece of material. And they sang their old favourites: rock rock rock your boat and the wheels on the bus!

Look how happy the library makes the children…!

Flying Start @ Helston Babies Make Jam Tarts!

The babies at Flying Start @ Helston have been enjoying cooking club, and making some jam tarts as a delicious treat!

The children used round cutters to make the shapes from the dough, and even laid them in the bun tray. Then they splodged some jam in them!

And the nursery staff helped by taking them off to be cooked…

Once cooked & cooled, they of course got to take them home to enjoy as a treat at home with their families… mm delicious!

Flying Start @ Penryn Explore Gruffalo Tough Spot!

As part of their theme around the storybook of The Gruffalo, the toddler department at Flying Start @ Penryn have created a special ‘tough spot’ themed on the Gruffalo!

It has a whole range of different textures with sand and grass, and then lots of natural objects to explore like pine cones and logs!

The children have been really enjoying playing with it and exploring it…

Flying Start @ Redruth Pre-School Make Vegetable Superheroes!

The pre-school children have been reading a story called ‘Supertato’, which they’ve been really enjoying!

It has inspired them to make their own superhero vegetables…

They’ve had lots of fun dressing up as superheroes and thinking about what it is that makes each of them super, and made their own superhero pictures!

And the staff helped put up all their hard work into an amazing display!

Flying Start @ Duchy Visit Local Library For Music & Stories!

The preschool children at Flying Start @ Duchy have visited the Old School Library in Stoke Climsland recently and joined in with a fun and exciting session!

They started off with a music session using various instruments along with their bodies to make sounds and movements alongside singing!

After a snack, they listened to the Brown Bear story based around colours and different animals. During the story, the children went on a hunt for the animals around the library before bringing them back to see if they matched!

A lovely learning experience, in the community!

Flying Start @ Redruth Go On A Gruffalo Hunt In The Forest!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Redruth took a trip to the forest especially to find the Gruffalo!!

They looked into the stream and by the lake… they looked up high into the trees… they looked under some leaves… and in amongst the trees!

The children had a great time looking in the different areas of the woods… and whilst they didn’t find the Gruffalo, they did hear some birds, the crunching of the leaves, and the whooshing of the water – all with their great looking and listening hunting skills!

Flying Start @ Saltash Explore ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Saltash have been reading the storybook ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea”, and then they had snacktime where they made lots of sandwiches like the ones the tiger ate!

The children chose what they would like in their sandwich and then carefully cut up cucumber and cheese, and spread their butter, before the tiger came!

Meanwhile, the pre-school children have been practising their scissor control… they chopped up some paper and then used it to decorate some tigers!

Grrrrreat work, Saltash!

Flying Start @ Helston Explore Space Theme!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Helston have been using their creative skills to make space hats for their spaceship role play!

The children all worked really hard as a team, helping each other cut, stick and decorate boxes to make rockets to fly to the moon!

Flying Start @ Duchy Do Stick Painting!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Duchy are currently focusing on the story book ‘Stick Man’ this half term, and so they explored the story even further by making their own pictures with sticks!

After a walk around college where they collected their sticks, they really enjoyed trying to make marks using them dipped in coloured paints!

The children concentrated really hard doing this activity – amazing effort from the toddlers!

Flying Start @ Saltash Toddlers Do Cooking Club!

The toddler department at Flying Start @ Saltash have been using their top baking skills as part of cooking club, where they made dairy free biscuits, so that all the children were able to eat them when they where cooked!

The children all helped to weigh out the ingredients, pour them into the bowl, and each have a turn at stirring the mixture…

Then a member of staff rolled out the mixture and the children each cut out the shapes and placed the biscuits onto the tray for a member of staff to put them into the oven to be cooked!
