The Baby Department at Flying Start @ Penryn have been focusing on a beach theme over the summer holidays!
They have been having a great time exploring the sand…
…making rock pool sensory trays and creating beach paintings!
Great summer-themed fun had by all the babies!
Flying Start @ Duchy Go On A Bug Hunt!
As part of their new planning, the Pre-School at Flying Start @ Duchy have been exploring the outdoors!
They have been out and about on a bug hunt, where the children had a sheet of information with bugs to look out for… On their trip, the children and staff looked very carefully and searched high and low!
They came across spiders, snails, bees, grasshoppers, and much more!
Afterwards, the children practised writing the names of all the bugs, animals, and insects they had come across…
Flying Start @ Helston Explore Beach Theme!
All age groups at Flying Start @ Helston have been exploring ‘the beach’ as their current theme…
The babies have been enjoying the theme both indoors and outdoors, exploring lots of different textures, and looking at puzzles of sea creatures!
Meanwhile, the pre-school have been using junk modelling to make submarines to go along with their beach roleplay! They have also been doing arts and crafts based on the beach.
And finally, both the toddlers and the pre-school have been really enjoying the beach role-play!
Flying Start @ Penryn Go On An Adventure In Their Local Community!
Flying Start @ Penryn have been out and about exploring their local town and woodland area…
The toddlers donned their high-vis jackets, and the babies were strapped into their buggies, and off they went on a big walk into town…
Their first stop was Rowes the Bakery, to buy a loaf of bread to feed the ducks!
Then they walked on to the woodland area, and had great fun throwing chunks of bread for the ducks, and seeing what other plants and animals they could spot!
Finally, they went to B&Q on the way home, where the children were looking at the plants and learning about them!
Then, back to nursery for a snack and a chance to chat about the exciting adventure they had been on!
Thank you to the very friendly members of the local community in Penryn for always welcoming the Flying Start outings and chatting with the children!
Flying Start @ Saltash Enjoy Soft Play!
The Holiday Club at Flying Start @ Saltash enjoyed a fun trip out to the soft-play area!
They ran, jumped, hopped, skipped, climbed and crawled their way around their hall!
They found places to hide during a game of hide and seek…
…and then took on the challenge of an obstacle course with some of the pre-school!
Great fun was had by all!
Flying Start @ Duchy Celebrate Pre-School Graduation!
Flying Start @ Duchy have been celebrating the graduation of their oldest pre-school children, who leave the nursery to join big school this September!
The staff held a party at the nursery on a Saturday, with a huge delicious party lunch, and even a special graduation cake!
All the leavers wore a blue cap and gown, and were presented with a special certificate – look at these fantastic smiles!!
Flying Start @ Duchy would like to say a huge thank you to all the parents who came along to this event and made it such a huge success – it was such a special day, and thank you also for their continued support to the nursery!
Flying Start Nurseries wish all these children the very best as they continue their journeys of life-long learning!
Flying Start @ Helston Learn All About Beach Safety!
The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Helston have been learning all about beach safety for the summer holidays…
They have been talking about the importance of staying safe at the beach, and they’ve been sharing ways that they stay safe with their families in group discussions… They have also been looking at and remembering the different flags that the lifeguards use.
The children have even been practising the signal to ask for emergency help – waving their arms above their heads and shouting “HELP!” loudly!!

Flying Start @ Saltash Get Chatty On The Telephones While Exploring Communication!
The toddlers at Saltash have been doing lots of different activities and games to promote their speaking… They have been talking to each other on the telephones, following and giving instructions, and naming the parts of their bodies!
The children have become more and more talkative – particularly using the telephones to talk to their nearby friends!
Flying Start @ Helston Celebrate Pre-School Graduation!
The staff and children at Helston enjoyed a day of fun, games and celebration to see off their pre-schoolers who are leaving nursery to join big school!
Each pre-school leaver was presented with a certificate, and they wore a special graduation cap and gown! They munched on some special party food and played lots of games out in the garden… And then wrote their names and mini drawings onto balloons, and let them all off into the sky!
They raised money for charity by selling cakes that the toddlers and pre-schoolers had made especially for the event, and from face-painting!
We wish all Flying Start children the very best as they continue their journey of life-long learning!
