Flying Start @ Penryn’s baby department love to bake!
Each week Linda and Kim in the baby department provide cooking club opportunities for the children to participate in.
They started to do a cooking club with babies as a suggestion from a parent, who noticed other departments do cooking club and queried why the babies weren’t… and the Penryn Team agreed! So a cooking club was born and now lots of lovely baking happens as well as exctiting learning opportunities for the children.
The children have chopped fruit for fruit salads, explored different textured fruit and vegetables and made their own dips to try them with, baked small bread rolls kneading the dough themselves and here the children made chocolate chip cookies as a treat!
The children love getting involved and have been practicing using child safe knives, mixing with spoons, different sized bowls, small pouring jugs and of course the most important tool their hands and fingers!
The children take their cooking home to enjoy or sometimes eat it for a mid afternoon snack!
Keep your eyes peeled for our Parent Baking Event on the blog! The plan is for parents, relatives and friends to join the babies to make pizza’s and cheese straws and then enjoy for a late morning snack!
