The preschool children have been experimenting with making their own bread for snack and lunch times. The children have learnt how to make bread from scratch, learning about healthy ingredients and home baking. This cooking club activity also linked in perfectly to the children’s growing theme at nursery, where they are growing lots of plants and flowers…. in baking bread they watched yeast in action and saw their bread grow grow and grow a lot bigger!

Once the bread had grown and doubled in size the children baked it and then enjoyed tasting their produce!

The children have also been enjoying all of the sunshine and getting very hot so decided to use our organic milk to create smoothies and milkshakes.

The children chose fruit to whizz up into a puree and then combine with fresh milk, learning that the fresh milk is healthy and helps our bones go strong and the fruit gives lots of important vitamins. The children enjoyed their icy cool drinks out in the sunshine at snack time!

The children this half term have now explored, growing and how we care for plants to help keep them healthy, exercise and how it helps keep us healthy, now food and drinks and how to make healthy choices and finally will be moving on to sun safety and how to be healthy and safe in this glorious weather! What a lot of fun learning!
