Flying Start @ Penryn’s Going To School Roleplay!
The preschool children from Flying Start @ Penryn are starting to get ready for school…
They are making a display that shows which local primary school each child is going to and what the school looks like, and are visiting the closest school Penryn Primary weekly. These visits are a good start to transitioning the children going to this school but also good for the other children to get a feel for primary school, using the library and ICT suite and playing in the playground with lots of school children!
At nursery the children are creating a role play area focused on going to school, with whiteboards and name writing practice, school words for discussion points and soon to be children’s uniform for dressing up!
The children have been looking at photographs and books of schools from around the world and noticing the differences in different countries and religions.
Daily access to child initiated school themed play is the start of their journey into school!
