Flying Start @ Cornwall College Collect For Local Food Bank!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been collecting food donations in their porch area, for their local food bank.

Thanks to the parents and families of the nursery who have given a donation – it is really gratefully received.

Two lovely families kindly came to collect the basket and deliver it for the nursery!

And the lady at the food bank was delighted to receive it – thanks to all!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Have Parent Visit For Remembrance Day!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College had a very special visit from a Mum at the nursery, who’s partner is in the Armed Forces.

She taught the toddlers all about the poppy and explained why we wear one, and she showed the children a whole wreath made of poppies…

Then the toddlers created their own wreath, and made beautiful poppies to wear too!

   A huge thank you to our very generous parent for giving up her time on such a meaningful day.

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Toddlers Explore Stickman Story!

To start their new story ‘Stickman’ for this half term, the toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been doing lots of exciting activities!

The toddlers enjoyed using a storyboard to remember the sequence of the story… They move stickman on the board as they read through the story, and are are quickly learning what part of the story comes next along with joining in with the words!

What a great way to interact and join in!

The children and staff also went on a walk to gather leaves…

…and when they got back to nursery, they drew around their friends…

…and did some fantastic gluing and sticking to create a full size stickman of their own!

Great work, toddlers!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Mark World Mental Health Day With Live Music!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College celebrated World Mental Health Day… and were treated to some live violin music!

The children were really lucky to have a parent visit who brought their violin, especially to play to them! The children talked all about their feelings, and how the violin music could make them feel sad… and then sang some more cheerful nursery rhymes to show how music could also make you feel happy!

They also coloured in the brilliant banner you can see in the photo, supporting The Invictus Trust, a local mental health charity!

Great work, Cornwall College and a huge thank you to the violinist!
