5 BIG laps of the nursery grounds!!

Well done everybody!

The children spent part of the day learning where the Sport Relief fundraising goes, who it helps in Britain and across the World and learnt how some children go through difficult times or aren’t very fortunate and need some help from the fundraising.

Thankyou to all parents and carers for getting their child involved!

Today for Sports relief we have all dressed in red a donated 50p to charity. In addition we ran 5 times around our big garden and have been eating red foods.

We have had lots of fun learning about how our donation will help children that are not a lucky as us.

With more comfortable floor coverings, opportunity for physical play, quiet cosy areas and some shaded space too it is developing!

Keep an eye out for progress on the baby garden during this term with the transition from Spring to Summer… and hopefully some sunshine!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Baby Collaging!

Flying Start @ Marjon have been getting creative!

The staff at Flying Start @ Marjon recently have undertaken ‘Exploring Media and Materials’ training to get some new ideas and freshen their knowledge on creative play opportunities for the children.

That means that lots more larger scale junk modelling, collaging and exploratory play will be happening!

The babies have been doing some large scale collaging, with large paper on the floor the children freely glued and stuck a variety of materials! Finding the spot they wanted to decorate they added glue and then collage materials and then came back several times during the session to get creative again!

The older children are developing their painting from observation, mixing their own paints and also junk modelling!

Flying Start @ Marjon and their 2D Shapes!

Flying Start @ Marjon have been shape matching…

The toddler and preschool children have been recognising their 2D shapes and playing matching games!

Shape matching (640x360)

Lots of play with the shapes through fun games and maths activities really helps the children to recognise them, remember their names and start to describe what they look like.

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Gruffalo Trail!

Flying Start @ Marjon have made a Gruffalo Trail in their garden!

All of the children get the opportunity to explore the Gruffalo trail… they just have to remember to put their welly boots on!

Not only is it great fun, it also helps the children to develop their imagination, their memory and recall of the familiar story and of course their creativity!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Police Visit..

Flying Start @ Marjon were recently visited by the Police!

Police visit (2) (640x360)

The children came outside to see the Police arrive in their car, before heading in to speak to the Police Officers about their job and how they help people.

Police visit

The children in Preschool currently have a ‘People Who Help Us’ role play, where they use their imagination to act out anybody that they know that helps them, they brought in photographs of their family members and friends who wear a special uniform and discussed what roles they did and who they helped. This gave them some support in using their imagination and remembering their own experiences!

The children asked the police office how he did his job and if he caught people who don’t behave!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Science Experiments!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Science Club Continues…

The children @ Flying Start Marjon have had their science hats on again, this time making things bubble, fizz, pop and explode!

The resources were laid out for the children to see and explore, with colouring, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda on the tray…

The children listened to the instructions and tried to predict what might happen, click on the video to see!

With ferocious mixing, lots of wooping and clapping they saw a lot of fizz and bubbles spurting over the top!

Have you got any old favourite experiments that they could try next week…?

Flying Start @ Marjon Build Structures!

Flying Start @ Marjon’s Toddlers have been building!

GetAttachment (16)

The children have been using different shape and different sized bricks to try to balance them.

Developing their hand eye coordination and fine motor skills, trying carefully to balance the bricks the toddlers are equally delighted when they all fall down!
