Flying Start @ Marjon have been learning all about their bodies!
Within our pre-school bubble we have been learning about our bodies. We have been reading a book which tells us all the fascinating things our bodies can do, such as eat food and then digest it in our bellies.
This then progressed to us learning how to look after our bodies, and looking at the recovery position. We have been learning how this will help us in times of need. 
Flying Start Have Been Celebrating World Mental Health Days In The Happiest Of Ways!
We have been celebrating World Mental Health Day. Preschool have been talking about things that are yellow and how they make us feel. “The sunshine makes us feel warm”. Then they did some gluing and sticking, and enjoyed a yellow snack and lunch. Day nursery also enjoyed eating their yellow foods, and speaking about their emotions. They then made faces out of yellow tissue paper.
Flying Start @ Marjon Look In The Mirror!
Intent: Our toddler and preschool children have been thinking about what they look like, and what makes then unique.
Implementation: We used mirrors and paint to paint our reflection in our pictures. Of course once we made our faces we had to colour the WHOLE mirror, leaving no space un painted!!
Impact: Children have learn their similarities and differences.
Flying Start @ Marjon Get Muddy!
Intent – To create marks using natural materials in forest school
Implementation- As the seasons begin to change we have been thinking about activities that can be done in all weathers. This week we have been painting using sticks, and then mud and water mixture. The children then used their natural explorative natures to add leaves, grass and fir cones to add texture to their marks.
Impact – The children used their imaginations, observational skills, and hand eye coordination to complete this activity.
Flying Start @ Marjon Experiment With Skittles!
The children had to plan, make a prediction and the watch the results.
Firstly, we collected our resources.
We then had to take the time to place the skittles at the edge of our plate.
We then carefully poured water to create a small pool in the middle of the plate.
Then we waited…….. and watched the results.
Flying Start @ Marjon Play With Hedgehogs!!
Intent: Following our settings story of the term, ‘That’s not my hedgehog’ we have create hedgehog models
Implementation: We used salt dough and sticks to create a prickly hedgehog. An adult modelled how it could be done and then we allowed the children to mimic our actions, designing their own model.
Impact: Children have the opportunity to learn that sticks have more than one purpose, along with the exploration of malleable materials.

At Marjon we have been busy making music rings for our babies to explore. We have had lots of fun rolling around creating sounds!!!
Flying Start @ Marjon Get Crafty With Foil!
This week we have enjoyed getting messy, making marks onto foil. We love the noise it makes when we create our lovely pictures.
