With the nicer weather the children and staff have been forgetting their worries and getting outside. They have been busy preparing our planting spaces to grow lots of delicious vegetables. We can’t wait to watch them grow and them eat them.  All the seeds looked so different, we talked about the shapes and sizes.

In the light of the current situation with Corona virus, our pre School children have been drawing pictures and writing letters to the Elderly residents at local care homes.

We have spoken about people may feel worried and drew pictures they felt would cheer other people up. What a lovely thought!

The Preschool room have been looking after their new friend Sobo an Icelandic troll.

Sobo is going to be helping teach us how to look after our world and the animals that live in it. We have already been busy making bird feeders .

The children have been exploring the beach in their new beach school sessions.

They have been learning about how to safe, especially in the wet and windy weather. Look at the great sand angels they made and what great risk assessing as they helped each other climb the rocks.

Pre school have been learning all about Chinese new year. We created a curiosity table for them to explore with traditional Chinese attire, cooking materials, calendars and writing.

The children then painted pictures and did some Chinese writing themselves. We sampled Chinese food for snack and even made our own Chinese dragon and carried out some dragon dancing to traditional Chinese music.

The children have been making bread for snack for a long time so we decided to make our own pizza dough to make Pizza for our snack.

The bread maker kneaded the dough and heated it to help it rise. The children then helped to shape it and fill it with some tasty toppings.

It was just too yummy to resist and the children ate it before we had time to snap a picture.

The day nursery department went on a bear hunt to the library this week! They took some of their nursery teddies to join in with the adventure too. At the library Sarah kindly had some bears waiting for us & taught us some amazing new songs & let us explore her exciting props. We’re looking forward to our regular library singing sessions!

Flying Start Walk Around The World In……How Many Days?

Flying Start Are Going To Walk Around The World!It takes 20 million steps and we want to help our staff become more active so we are taking on the challenge… but the question is… how long will it take our staff teams, and how many times can we go around our world?! Your nursery team will be recording their steps, and children and parents will be encouraged in their own challenge! So how about parking your car a little further away and walking some extra steps to nursery, going out for a walk at the weekend, or even doing a teeth cleaning march! Lets all get fit this February and Walk Around The World!

The Pre school have been busy creating faces during a wood work session. The practised using lots of tools such as screwdrivers, hammers and sand paper, helping to develop their fine and gross motor skills. They were able to use lots of different resources including flowers from the garden, pipe cleaners and beads to create their own faces.
