The Scavenger Hunt!
We have seen photos and videos on EYLog Scavenger hunts, inside and outside with great success!
Children are searching high and low, finding objects with clues…. this is a great way to encourage your child’s listening skills, memory and thinking skills working out where items may be.
In nature we saw some fantastic colour matching, just look at all of the different colours found on a short walk!
Keep up the good work families, lots of home learning fun and play taking place … we love seeing it!

Flying Start Nurseries Home Learning Plan For Babies!

Flying Start Nurseries Home Learning Plan For Babies!

So many children have enjoyed the Bear Hunt plan that went out last week via EYLog.

We have seen some great evidence of children looking high and children looking low for hidden teddy bears, in their lounge, in their bathroom, in their garden and even out on a walk!

Great mathematical language and concept development focusing on: under, on top, behind, low, high, next to! And of course a LOT OF FUN was had chasing around trying to find the hidden bears!

Thankyou to all the parents who uploaded some fantastic photographs and videos of your little one’s learning at home!

Flying Start Families Feed The Birds!

Flying Start’s Learning @ Home: Making Bird Feeders!

Preschool children have been practicing their fine motor skills, threading hoop cereal onto string or pipe cleaners to make bird feeders…

Some children practiced their counting skills as they threaded each hoop, some made different shaped bird feeders, some identified the different shades of dark and light brown they could see in the hoops and some talked about who might want to nibble their bird feeder!

The whole family joined in here.. with a baby sister doing some fantastic threading…

Then on their daily walk the children hunted for the best place to hang the birdfeeder, some went high, some went low and some families left several in an experiment to see which was eaten first!

In the garden some children made a den and became bird watchers for a while, waiting and waiting to see who came for a little snack!

Flying Start Home Learning Starts With A Bang! Crash! Ding!

Flying Start Home Learning Plans Are Underway!

Families across Cornwall and Plymouth have started their home learning plans, which are being posted straight onto their child’s learning story twice weekly!

These plans give some age/stage specific fun ideas to try and also help keep your child’s learning story active, so we can see how your little one is getting on… this will really help their transition back to nursery in the near future also!

Our first plan for everyone to have a go at was to  MAKE SOME NOISE! Using household items, pots, pans and anything you could find to explore different sounds. although parents with older children we are yet to see any evidence of the ’family band’ challenge?!
If you haven’t had a go yet, get involved and pop it on your child’s EYLog!

Flying Start Enjoying Outdoor Play!

Flying Start Children Are Outside And Enjoying The Fresh Air!

We are enjoying the drier weather and making ball runs, obstacle courses and taking our learning outside!

We are open, grouping our children into nurseries with higher demand, keeping high hygiene, lots of hand washing and lots of outdoor play!
