Flying Start @ Duchy’s Children Plan, Visit, Make and Pretend In Their Roleplay!

Flying Start @ Duchy’s children have used their initiative in full flow, to build a role play!

The staff have recently been on some training on creating effective role play opportunities for the children and stripped it back to basics in following the children’s lead for a role play that they feel excited about, as it is using their ideas and interests.

First of all the staff and children sat down to make their plan of action …

They planned to go on a trip around their campus to see what they could find, and if this would spark up some interest!

They found lots of different animals that the children could name, they took photographs of what they saw and the people they met along the way.

Then the children were very excited about making a tractor to drive.. so they set to work!

A tractor! Fit for a farmer!

The children’s role play is all about caring for animals and the land, whether that be in the tractor, feeding the ducks or identifying animals through their binoculars!

What else do you think they could add to this to extend the children’s play?
