The whole nursery at Flying Start @ Camborne had a great time celebrating Flora’s 26th Birthday last week! 🎉
 
They invited parents & families to come and join the celebrations, and they all had great fun dancing with balloons, card making, and garden fun!
Look how beautiful the garden looks with the decorations, and some of the children wore their party clothes too!
 
Everybody sat together at snack time and enjoyed some birthday cakes and then had a party food lunch… delicious!
 
A huge thank you to all the parents & families who came and joined the celebrations!

Flying Start Nurseries Celebrates 26 Years!
We are delighted to celebrate that Flying Start Nurseries turns 26 years old today!!🎉
Sharon & Steve Cowburn would like to express a huge thank you to all the staff, families, and children who have been a part of Flying Start over the years, and who join them today in celebrating 26 years!

 
A particularly special mention goes to the amazing staff members who have worked for Flying Start for the whole 26 years, or were original staff who have returned to the company! And also to members of staff who were previously children in the nursery – wow!!
 
Today and throughout this week, the nurseries will be celebrating the nursery anniversary – and the birthday of the little girl in our logo who we call Flora!
 
Here is to many more years of providing a ‘Flying Start to lifelong learning’!

The children at Flying Start @ Camborne have been celebrating St Georges Day!
 
The children have been learning all about St George and making flags… They used glue, red tissue paper and red crayons to make their amazing creations!
Just look at their wonderful concentration & creativity!

Wow, look at this amazing tie-dye masterpiece that Flying Start @ Camborne have been making in their nursery garden!
 
They decided to go outdoors and make a large piece of garden art… so they hung up a large white sheet with elastic bands along the fence, and bunched it in sections…
 
Then the children got their spray bottles filled with beautiful colours, and got to spray the sheet all over to make beautiful patterns!
 
They will undo it once it is all dry to see the amazing tie-dye patterns…
What fantastic creativity! 🌈

The babies at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been getting messy with painting outdoors!
 
They got suited up in their wellie boots and waterproof overalls to get fully stuck in, and have fun with the paint in all different ways…
 
…they used paintbrushes, their hands, and even their wellie boots to create some amazing springtime big art!
 
The children really loved exploring the paint using their senses and creative, and they especially enjoyed mixing the colours together and seeing the effects!

Flying Start @ Camborne Do Floating & Sinking Experiments!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Camborne have been experimenting with floating and sinking!

 

 

They collected a variety of objects from around nursery and then put then in a bowl of water to see if they sunk to the bottom of the bowl or floated on top of the water… they all gathered round and watched each one!

 

 

The children then made some boats out of plastic cups and straws to take home and see if they would float or sink in their sinks or baths at home!

 

 

What an exciting way to learn about some science!

Flying Start Nurseries are delighted to win the Silver Award for Healthy Workplaces, in the first year of attempting this award!
 
Flying Start were particularly recognised for:
 
 Wellbeing wall and wellbeing boxes for staff to access which include magazines, colouring and puzzle books
 Staff away day, including beach games
 Ensuring staff can talk openly about their mental health
 Training 38 members of staff in Level 2 Mental Health Awareness
 Training all Senior Staff in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)
  The CEO is a qualified MHFA trainer
 
The whole company is delighted to gain this Healthy Workplace Award, and all staff will continue to focus on the physical and mental health of their colleagues and all of the children!

Flying Start @ Camborne Do Colour Experiments!

The children in the pre-school department at Flying Start @ Camborne have been doing science experiments this week!
 
They have been experimenting with milk and lots of different food colourings in containers, adding them and watching the colour concoctions…
 
Then they added cotton wool balls with soap on, and made a marble effect pattern as the colours were mixing!
 
Later, they did experiments with different cups and whether they could transfer the colours into each cup!
 
Great experimenting guys!

Flying Start @ Camborne Toddlers Bake Owl Cakes!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Camborne have done some baking and made some Owl Cakes to link to their theme of the storybook Whatever Next!

The toddlers worked together in groups and helped to mix up all of the ingredients and then helped Zoe to carefully spoon the mixture into the cake cases….

Donna then put the cakes into the oven to cook…

…and once they had cooked and cooled, the children decorated the cakes with buttercream, pieces of cake and smarties to make them into Owls!

   

They looked really amazing as you’ll see from the picture, and were a delicious treat for the children!

Flying Start @ Camborne have been taking their story time outdoors…
 
They have been making the most of the bursts of spring time weather, by wrapping up in their coats & getting outside in the sunshine!
 
The children have been exploring, practicing balancing…
…And then sat down to enjoy story time in the garden together!
Meanwhile in the main garden, the children have been using up their energy rolling barrels, riding their bikes, climbing, and running!
What great outdoor fun and learning!
