Flying Start @ Camborne’s Forest Fun!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Forest Finds…

The preschool children went on their Forest School to Tehidy Woods and found…

A big wall to peep over, some fast flowing water, some ducks and a den to hide in!

They explored the different environments, looking high and low, behind and inside to see what they could find, listening carefully with their ears and searching with their eyes. They then gathered together to recall their trip, explaining the sequence of their journey and the details they could remember!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Beach School Continues!

Flying Start @ Camborne Love To Learn On The Beach

The preschool children go on weekly beach school trips, taking their learning outside and exploring the amazing natural environment we are so lucky to have on our doorstep!

Starting by reading beach themed stories on the beach, the children then explored their surrounding.

This week the children were exploring textures and experimenting with mixing, using their spades and buckets they collected different materials and made their own potions and pies!

The children always spend some time reflecting on how to be safe on the beach, looking out for flags, feeling the wind direction and checking for safety on the sand around them and within the vicinity of where they are exploring…. at Flying Start we think it is really important we equip our children with the skills to be safe on the beach!

Flying Start @ Camborne Tinker Away!

Flying Start @ Camborne Use Tools In Their Wood Work

The Preschoolers have been using the Tinkering tool sets, this is a specially designed child friendly wood work kit!

Wearing aprons, hats and goggles they had their protective equipment on ready to explore the use of tools. Ashley explained how to use the tools safely and then the children had a go!

Using the hammer to bang in the nails, the screwdriver to screw in the screws and the drill to make some holes in the wood the children explored the strength they needed and the careful safety precautions they needed to take… especially to keep their fingers safe!

The children will be continuing with regular wood work sessions, tinkering away and exploring different tools, equipment and problem solving with wood.

Flying Start @ Camborne Visit Trevaskis Farm!

Flying Start @ Camborne Found 3 Little Pigs!

The Toddler’s theme this half term is the 3 little pigs story, so to help make their learning more real and support the children making clear links they have been to visit some real pigs on the farm.

The children found baby pigs, medium sized pigs and some very large pigs!

It was extremely muddy… so then it was only right to copy the pigs and splash around in the muddy puddles!

The children also managed to find cows, horse, donkeys and goats!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s After School Activities

Flying Start @ Camborne Model With Salt Dough

The oldest children measured their ingredients to create their own salt dough, they then rolled, manipulated and used different tools to create their own designs

Using cutters as well as having a go with knives for free hand cutting the children made different shapes and decorations before baking them in the oven.

The after school children plan their activities based on their interests, this was a great activity that really got them engaged!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Weekly Gym Club!

Flying Start @ Camborne Keep Fit and Healthy!

The Toddlers weekly gym club happens every Wednesday and involves a warm up, main activities working on developing different physical skills and then a cool down with a conversation about how their bodies are feeling during and after the exercise.

In this session the children’s warm up started to ‘If you are happy and you know it’ with LOTS of actions that got more and more physical… not just clap your hands and stamp your feet!

Then they focused on developing the physical skill : hopping.

Remembering how they have learnt to jump and land with two feet and bent knees they could trial this on the one foot. This was helped along with lots of rounds of ‘sleeping bunnies’ who do lots of hopping at the end of the rhyme!

The children also practised putting on their own shoes and socks afterwards… why not see how they get on with this at home!

Flying Start @ Camborne Do Science Experiments On The Beach!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Beach School Caused Volcano’s To Erupt!

After digging a hole, the science experiments began!

After their science experiments, the children read beach themed stories and enjoyed some free exploration finding different textures and natural resources on the beach.
