Flying Start @ Camborne have been Autumn explorers!

We have used various resources to make pumpkin potions, pouring in the water and watching it race out. Our faces lit up when we watched all the water, saying ‘whooosh’ and ‘splash’.

Flying Start @ Camborne Mark Making

Our Day Nursery children have been busy exploring different mark making activities in the outdoors. It is a wonderful way to develop those fine motor skills needed later on for writing.

A firm favourite was using blackberries and masking them up to make our very own paint, it helped that it tasted good too! We used sticks and leaves to make our own paint brushes to create marks and even our hands.

Some children continued to mark make in our sand using the brushes we made and some used cars.

Flying Start @ Camborne Flora’s Mini Explorers

The Day Nursery and Toddlers have been super busy exploring the changes in our outdoor environment now the weather is changing and everything is feeling more autumnal.

The babies have enjoyed getting busy mark making using natural resources and mud and painting using different colours with different tools in cling film.

Toddlers have been exploring our trees, seeing what we could use in the garden for our self portraits. Getting messy and sticky. Describing the feel of the trees and looking way up high at what could live in there!

Flying Start @ Camborne hunt for blackberries

Toddlers had a BERRY good time hunting down blackberries from our garden and adding them with some apples for a delicious crumble.
A great way to follow on from a favourite book of the Graffalo.
We were careful when picking to avoid the prickles and have closely watched them change colour to make sure we got the best ones.
What a yummy treat for our snack!

Flying Start @ Camborne Zoom to the Moon!

Day Nursery have had a blast visiting the moon recently! They used their box to create a space rocket, just like in the book ‘Whatever Next’. They soon remembered they needed their telescopes and helmets and sought out suitable resources for their pretend play.

We decided to make the room nice and dark and switch on our fairy lights so we could find the stars, where we sang ‘Twinkle Twinkle’ and ‘Zoom Zoom Zoom.’

The children were so immersed in their play so we extended it to having our snack as a picnic on the moon!

Flying Start @ Camborne Explore Bees

The nursery have been busy learning all about Bees this week.

The babies and toddlers created their own bees using their fingers and also collected flowers to help our big bee to pollenate.

The children also enjoyed a yummy honey sandwich after learning about how bees make it.

Flying Start’s Annual Training Day 2024

Flying Start’s annual Staff Training Day was a huge success 🌟

Our day started with a company wide catch up with our 90 staff focusing in on the success of the past year and our focus as a company to be keeping healthy, always learning and more sustainable in the year ahead!

Then we had lots of hands on learning, focused on the age groups the practitioners work with and developing certain parts of our curriculum. It was a very creative day!
Even the Managing Director got stuck in to large outdoor squiggle art!

We enjoyed an amazing lunch from The Spitting Pig, the food was delicious!

Followed by some more afternoon workshops where our teams had time to make resources to take back and use with their key children.

Finishing with our awards ceremony, where we celebrated so many efforts of our incredible Flying Start teams, who we know do such a fab job day in day out!

Flying Start @ Camborne Start Planting

Pre school have been beginning to learn about sustainability this week and why it is important to look after the world we live in.

We continued the learning by using some of our recycled pots as planters and have made a start on the vegetables we would like to grow this year. We cannot wait to watch their progress and move them outside when the weather allows.

Flying Start @ Camborne Pancake Day

We have had a wonderful day celebrating pancake day where the children created their own sensory pancakes inside the sensory tray and with clay in our new mud kitchen. We then had a lovely pancake snack which we all agreed was delicious!
