Flying Start @ Camborne Start Planting

Pre school have been beginning to learn about sustainability this week and why it is important to look after the world we live in.

We continued the learning by using some of our recycled pots as planters and have made a start on the vegetables we would like to grow this year. We cannot wait to watch their progress and move them outside when the weather allows.

Flying Start @ Camborne Pancake Day

We have had a wonderful day celebrating pancake day where the children created their own sensory pancakes inside the sensory tray and with clay in our new mud kitchen. We then had a lovely pancake snack which we all agreed was delicious!

Flying Start @ Camborne Enjoy Lots of Stories

The whole setting have spent the week celebrating National Story Telling Week.

Practitioners were guided by the children’s interests and favourite books to create some wonderful imaginary experiences.

The younger children have had many sensory experiences based on the book ‘The Runaway Pea’, and ‘The Gruffalo’

Toddlers focused their week around a favourite story of ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ where they had a tea party, retold the story using props and even made their own tiger faces.

Pre-School used a different story a day, one day they became pirates and went on their own treasure hunt, they creating their very own stick man and even told a wonderful story about insects and created their own bug hotel.

Flying Start @ Camborne Mark Make with Nature

Toddlers have been exploring their outdoor environment this week.

We have braved the colder days, explored ice and found lots of different treasures. When creating our pictures, we used different objects to paint with and enjoyed exploring our natural world.

Flying Start @ Camborne Pumpkin Painting

Toddlers have been getting creative and practising their physical skills whilst painting a variety of pumpkins.

We used brushes to create marks and even had a go at making our own paintbrushes using natural resources from the garden.

We developed our early writing skills as well as practising our gross motor skills as we squatted to reach the pumpkins.

The children then discovered the fun of washing all the paint off to create a blank canvas to start again.

Flying Start @ Camborne Explore Conkers

Pre-School have been exploring conkers this week. There are so many fun things we can use them for.

We have used them for comparing sizes, quantities and practising our counting, painting, and adding to our potions.

We then had a great time using them to become creative; we made patterns, towers and even caterpillars.

We definitely recommend collecting some if out on an autumnal walk!

Flying Start @ Camborne Cook Pizza

The toddlers have been working on their fine motor skills as well as their ability to follow instructions whilst making pizza for their starter for lunch.

This is carried out on a lower ratio with the support of our nursery cook, who carries out cooking club at least twice weekly. This allows the children to learn valuable skills such as spreading using a knife or spoon and using the grater with the support of an adult, learning that some tools can be dangerous.

It was a tricky task, but the toddlers persevered and agreed their pizza was yummy at lunch time.

Flying Start @ Camborne Get Autumnal

The toddlers have been embracing the start of Autumn. The leaves are starting to fall and making a crunch under our feet and on a windy day we enjoyed watching and feeling them fall on us.

With all the leaves on the floor we decided to make leaf soup in our mud kitchen, things got messy but we had so much fun, stamping, scooping, pouring and mixing.

Flying Start @ Camborne Parent Makaton

This week we started our parent Makaton sessions with the parents looking at routines and songs that match and we all had so much fun!

We are looking forward to carrying this on monthly and seeing how we progress.

Flying Start @ Camborne Get Cooking

The Pre-School @ Flying Start Camborne have started the new term as they mean to go on and enjoyed helping Sheree in prepping and boiling the vegetables for their turkey curry lunch. Danielle reminded them of the importance of being safe when using the hot hob.

We always find the children eat more when they are excited to eat what they have created.
