Flying Start @ Camborne have got a special visitor for Advent….

Fairy Flora has got tiny key that she uses at midnight to pop back to Father Christmas and tell him how much fun and how kind the children have been!

She then arrives back, locks the door (as she doesn’t want any other elves to follow her in!) and then she plays with all of the nursery toys before falling fast asleep for the rest of the day!

On the 1st of December they found Fairy Flora by her tiny door signing in to the nursery, with a note for the children to be read!

What on earth will she get up to next….

Flying Start @ Camborne celebrate yet another successful ‘Meet The Keyworker’ evening! 

New parents and families were welcomed into the nursery by children, staff and existing customers with open arms!

As you can see from the video it was a very lively, busy evening!

And then thankfully with the weather staying dry everyone could venture outside for a BBQ…

Flying Start @ Camborne Dingle Dangle Like Scarecrows!

Flying Start @ Camborne continue their Harvest Theme through the rest of their learning…

The children have got a Fruit and Vegetable Shop role play and have been learning about growing and harvesting food, they have also set up a Food Bank for their families to donate to, to support the less fortunate in their community.

Now the children have been moving and dancing like scare crows in their gym club!

Continuing their Harvest theme through their terms gym club! 

The children then made their own Scarecrow! 

Recycling paper and stuffing it to make a big Scarecrow to watch over their play and learning over the next month.

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Innovative Ways To Develop Writing Skills…

Flying Start @ Camborne have been doing lots of different activities to develop hand strength to help writing control…

The children have been using play dough to squeeze in and out of their fists, and then into smaller pincer movements with their thumb and index finger, developing essential hand muscles required for writing and pencil control.

They have also been using tweezers to pick up objects and transport them, this encourages those same hand muscles to get active and build strength, as well as encouraging high level of concentration from the child!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Babies Squish and Squash…

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Babies have been exploring a water mat!

The children use this mat to squish and squeeze objects, moving them through the water using their hands on top of the mat!

The children not only have to use their hand eye coordination and motor skills to do this, but are starting to develop critical thinking and problem solving characteristics of learning.

The babies have now also started identifying the colours of some of the objects inside the mat and pointing to them independently!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Holiday Club give the Cows their lunch @ Rosewarne!

The children went out for a walk in the nice weather and visited the animal barns…

With welly boots on the children really mucked in!

Hand feeding the animals, stroking them and ensuring that no cow was left out! Everyone got a hearty hay lunch that day!

The children have been learning about the importance of warming up and cooling down and how to look after ourselves during and after exercise.

Flying Start’s Fun Club @ Camborne went on a day trip to Truro’s PlayFest!

The children went on the bus to Malpas in Truro to be entertained at PlayFest…

The children certainly were entertained! With bouncy castles, music, walking, stalls, mascots and even a minion the day was fantastic!

The children stopped for a packed picnic lunch and then got the bus back!

What a great outing in the local community!

Flying Start’s Holiday Club @ Camborne have been visiting Rosewarne every week for Forest School Fun!

Last week they went pond dipping…

And found so many different types of wildlife they had to get their wildlife book out to identify the species, and match the hundreds of newts to pictures!

Then the children made rafts and had the all important sink or float test…

They floated! And the children were very proud of their achievements… what a fantastic science experiment and outside learning opportunity!
