Flying Start @ Camborne Shape Hunt, Find and Match!

Flying Start @ Camborne are exploring shapes… inside, outside and all ways round!

The children have been showing a keen interest in finding the shapes that they know but in every day objects, for example the triangular roof of the shed in the garden or the round circle of a football.

After a big hunt in all areas of the nursery and garden spotting different shapes the children played matching games…

Whilst some children enjoyed rolling the dice and finding the shape to match quicker than their friends could, others were using shape tiles to replicate shapes they could see around them or to use their imagination and make a new shape!

With their magnifying glasses at the ready the children have been finding and identifying, snails, slugs, woodlice, ants and even a bees nest on their bird house!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Parent and Children’s Gardening Afternoon!

Flying Start @ Camborne recently had an afternoon of gardening all together!

The parents, staff and children all met out in the fine weather to get their green fingers to work!

The families dug, turned over and planted their seeds…

Then they got rid of the old garden waste by recycling it, sorting out cardboard, pots, or garden waste properly so that it went in the right bin.

Thankyou for all of the help… we are well on our way to a refreshed garden!

Flying Start Nurseries are Awarded SUN SAFE Certificates!

Flying Start Nurseries have been working towards being called ‘Sun Safe’!

Now Flying Start @ Redruth, Camborne and Penryn have all be awarded the recognition, certificate and logo!

This means they have adapted policies, changed practices and found innovative ways of teaching the children the importance of sun safety, whilst including you our parents as partners!

Well done to the nurseries for receiving recognition for a really important part of safeguarding the children!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Ball Run Fun!

Flying Start @ Camborne have been having water and ball fun in the garden!

Outside the children have been using the drain pipes to roll balls or pour water through them…

The toddlers enjoy seeing how high they can reach up to put things in the pipes and then watching and chasing them down to the bottom to see if they can catch them!

The preschoolers have started to make guesses and predictions to see who’s goes faster, how high they can reach up to put it in the top pipe and even trying water with a ball… does this help it zoom through with a splash?!

Now the children have the theatre up and ready to go and have been using their puppets to create their own stories, this week they are going to make some puppets themselves to further explore using their imagination and adding a narrative to their play!

Flying Start @ Camborne’s Sunflowers are off to a Flying Start!

Flying Start @ Camborne have started growing sunflowers!

They remember every day to water them and take turns doing this and of course checking to see if they are sprouting …which…

THEY ARE!

Fantastic news, the children can see that their caring efforts are paying off and now can get excited for daily measuring!

How big do we think they are going to grow?

When will they be planted outside?
