Flying Start @ Camborne Enjoy The Snow

SNOW!

What an exciting day…the children have had a brilliant time exploring and playing in the snow @ Flying Start Camborne.

We found the biggest sheets of ice and experimented how to make them melt quicker. The babies had fun feeling all of the different textures and of course we had to have a snowball fight, the children definitely beat the adults! Then we warmed up with a nice hot chocolate.

Flying Start @ Camborne Make Mud Pies

The Pre School @ Camborne have been exploring weight and textures in the mud kitchen this week.

They used mud and rocks to compare weights on our scales as they pretended to cook delicious recipes for their peers.

The discovered adding more water to the mud made it sloppy and easier to stir, but they needed more mud if they wanted the pies and cakes to hold shape!

Flying Start @ Camborne Christmas Craft

The Pre School children @ Flying Start Camborne have been busy getting creative this week by creating Christmas trees with resources found around the nursery. We started quite small using playdough and craft supplies, using our problem-solving skills to work out how to get our decorations to stick to the cotton reels. As we became more confident that our methods worked, we created larger Christmas trees using cones from the garden.

We think they look amazing!

Flying Start @ Camborne Get Festive

The whole nursery has had a wonderfully festive week @ Flying Start Camborne

The children celebrated with a Christmas party, including a visit from Father Christmas. We all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Dinner, cooked by Sheree, where the children made their own placemats and decorated their own tablecloth. We even enjoyed the tradition of pulling Christmas Crackers!

Day nursery enjoyed a frosty walk to the Christmas Tree festival in the local church and even met the Grinch, whilst Pre-school had a go at making their very own Christingles.

On top of that the children have been busy making many Christmas crafts and baking surprises for their loved ones and can not wait to share them.

Flying Start @ Camborne Bake!

The babies at Camborne have been busy making Christmas biscuits this week. They enjoyed using their fine motor skills whilst decorating them. They especially enjoyed eating them for snack!

Flying Start @ Camborne Garden Project

All the children in the nursery have been super excited by the addition of a digger in our garden, whilst we have lots of work being carried out. They have been learning the different parts of the digger and lots of other power tools too.

Day Nursery have replicated their own digger sensory play and have lots of fun exploring their transporting schema by posting the soil through tubes and using the dumper trucks.

We are so excited to see our garden progress!

Flying Start @ Camborne Kindness Week

Flying Start @ Camborne have been focusing on kindness this week, following on from World Kindness Day. We have made our own creations of cakes, adding in various ingredients that represent being kind, friendships and love. We also created a kindness song which the children have been singing to promote our focus.

Flying Start @ Camborne Make Sparklers

Toddlers @ Flying Start Camborne have been making their own edible sparklers! We used some breadsticks and dipped the end in some yummy chocolate, to make our colourful sprinkles stick. We spoke about the colours we could see on the end of our sparklers and talked as a group at how to stay safe with upcoming fire work night.

Flying Start @ Camborne Sensory Playdough

The babies have been busy exploring using their senses with playdough. We scented the dough and added a variety of natural objects to explore with. The herbs were the favourite, they all had a different texture, scent and taste.

Some babies even explored the dough with their feet for a different sensory experience.

Flying Start @ Camborne Autumn Messy Play

Pre-School and Toddlers @ Flying Start Camborne have been getting messy! Following the interest of Autumn, we have all been getting messy with various activities. We have been exploring pumpkins, cutting them out and then making Autumn potions inside them. We have discussed recent visits with our families to the pumpkin patches too. Using tools, we safely cut pieces out of the pumpkin to describe the textures of them. We’ve had great fun and can’t wait to explore more Autumn objects.
