Flying Start @ Camborne Make Potions

Pre School have been using their imagination to create potions. We used a range of resources which we had to scoop, cut, squeeze and mash. The different potions we made were amazing, some made us into giants, others a frog or a princess.

Flying Start @ Camborne Learn More About The Coronation

We have been busy learning about the Royal Family and what it means to be King or Queen.  We even thought about what we would do if we were King or Queen. We spent time listening to the national anthem and learning about what will happen at the coronation and the importance of the crown, orb, and spectre.

It also sparked conversations about London and some of the wonderful landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, the London Eye and Big Ben.

On Friday we created union jack flags, crowns, and sticker pictures to decorate the rooms before enjoying a homemade high tea of egg and cress sandwiches, sausage rolls and biscuits.

Flying Start @ Camborne Flora Tea Party

Flora’s 30th Tea Party

We were so happy to celebrate Flying Starts birthday in the wonderful sunshine by hosting a Tea Party in the garden.

We filled the garden with our favourite activities for parents to join in with, such as playdough, flowers in the mud kitchen and ribbon stick making. Children decorated their own biscuits to enjoy with their party snacks.

Children had their crown creations on display for all to see and they were all wonderful.

Lastly we all set together enjoying our party food before some dancing and musical statues.

Flying Start @ Camborne Herb Garden

The children @ Flying Start Camborne have been gardening this week. We have been creating a herb garden for our decked area, which aim to be filled with sensory experiences.

The children all had a go at smelling the different scents before selecting what herbs they would like to plant. We talked about what they will need to grow and were fascinated by all the roots the plants had created.

We can’t wait to watch them grow and use them in our cooking and sensory play.

Flying Start @ Camborne Celebrate World Earth Day

All children @ Flying Start Camborne celebrated World Earth Day. We looked at images of the earth and created our very own as well as exploring playdough and foraging for natural treasures to put in them. The Pre-School children also had a discussion about how to look after our planet and participated in litter pick in our gardens to ensure children and animals could remain safe.

Flying Start @ Redruth Make Bread

At Flying Start Redruth we have been foraging in our garden for some ingredients to add to our bread rolls! There’s lots of dandelions growing in our grass so before the grass is cut, we wanted to use them in our cooking clubs. The children picked lots of dandelions then dissected the flower to put the petals into their bread roll mixture. With the leftover dandelions the children made some beautiful artwork to take home. The bread rolls were so delicious & were a lovely yellow colour!

Flying Start @ Camborne Easter Egg Hunt

On Thursday, the whole nursery @ Flying Start Camborne spent the day celebrating the start of Easter by inviting our families to join us for an Easter egg hunt, egg decorating competition and egg rolling. The day was EGGcellent, and the sun even made an appearance!

We started with our egg hunt around the garden, where the children exchanged coloured in eggs for yummy chocolate ones. We had to search high, low and even inside of things.

The children then participated in some lovely Spring themed activities before enjoying a delicious hot cross bun.

We proudly put our decorated eggs, created by children, parents and staff, on display for all to see before participating in some egg rolling, which we all agreed was so much fun!

Happy Easter!

Flying Start @ Camborne Have a Special Visit

This week the children were thrilled to have a visit from the fire brigade. Ben a parent from our nursery, who works for Tolvaddon Community Fire Station brought his team to the nursery. The children loved seeing the fire engine, especially the lights and siren before learning all about the hose and how it works.

Ben also told us that the team love it when you wave to them when you see them!

Thank you so much for visiting us.

Flying Start @ Camborne Growing Patch

This week the Pre-School worked hard in the bigger garden to create an allocated growing patch.

We had to empty out the fallen leaves and left over sand, where we found so many mini beasts, including worms, centipedes, spiders and even a beetle.

We then had to be very careful using sharp tools to create holes in the bottom to allocate drainage before filling it with so much compost. Lastly we started to create a barrier to prevent any of our smaller friends climbing into the mud.

They children have decided this is where we should grow carrots and peas.

Flying Start @ Camborne Celebrate Mother’s Day

The whole nursery @ Flying Start Camborne celebrated all the special women (and men) in our lives for Mother’s Day on Friday afternoon.

Carers and children all enjoyed a wonderful home-made scone with jam and cream.

We had a lovely range of activities including colouring, planting sunflowers, flower threading and water play.

All parents had a card and daffodils to take home.

We just want to say we think all of our mums and other carers who are doing a wonderful job.
