Flying Start @ Camborne Celebrate St Pirans Day

We have had a wonderful day celebrating St Pirans Day!

The Day Nursery explored black playdough with white resources whilst listening to traditional Cornish sea shanties.

Pre-School and toddlers celebrated by creating their own Cornish Flags, singing sea shanties and even had a go at making their own pasties.

Flying Start @ Camborne Celebrate World Book Day

The babies in Camborne have been busy reading stories in different place both inside and outside, and have spent time colouring in pictures of the characters they have dressed up as!

Flying Start @ Camborne Practice Fine Motor Skills

The Pre-School have been very busy practising their fine motor skills this week by taking part in lots of cooking. They all agreed making the vegetable soup was the best. They talked about where the plants grew, lots grew underground, the shape and how we thought they would taste. The children all had a go at peeling the veget ables themself after learning how to use the peelers safely. They then cut them up ready to cook.

The children had decided they would like to eat their soup outside at snack time, so we all wrapped up warm, created our pretend campfire to keep us warm before enjoying it. It was delicious.

Flying Start @ Camborne Valentine Stay & Play

A huge thank you to all the parents who attended our Valentines stay and play.

With such wonderful weather all of the children and families joined together in the large, newly renovated garden, where they made love cakes in the mud kitchen, made splashes in the floral water and created wonderful colourings with our parents. As well as exploring the other parts of the garden.

Then we were all offered a heart shaped biscuit that the children had lovingly baked that morning.

Flying Start @ Camborne Gardening

Pre-School @ Flying Start Camborne have been busy getting the garden and front of the nursery ready for Spring. This week we planted out daffodil bulbs – we can’t wait to watch them grow. We then spent some time learning about how flowers grow and using new words such as bulb, sapling, and flower.

Flying Start @ Camborne Celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week

The whole nursery @ Flying Start Camborne have been celebrating Children’s Mental Health week and been carrying out lots of learning on naming their emotions, techniques on helping us calm down and even slow down and relax.

These activities included the babies going on a well-being walk to the local park. They sang some songs and lay on their backs, looking at the sky and naming what we can hear and see. Pre-School also got outside for their Healthy Movers and practiced carrying out some mindful moments.

We also enjoyed turning one of our rooms into the ‘Flying Start Spa’. The room was really calm, and the children had the opportunity to soak their feet in some lavender water and really describe what they were feeling, some children even enjoyed placing cucumber on their eyes (or eating it). Enjoying shadows on the wall and listening to sea sounds and even participated in some yoga. This was then followed by a wonderful afternoon tea.

Maybe your child could teach you a mindful moment or yoga move!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Celebrate Chinese New Year

The preschool children at Flying Start Cornwall College have been learning about Chinese New Year! We watched a short video about the zodiac story and spoke about how this year is the year of the rabbit. We’ve taken part in lots of crafts: colouring pages, practising our scissor skills to make Chinese lanterns, and painting a rabbit. We’ve also had a Chinese theme snack, trying egg noodles and vegetable spring rolls. Yummy! Towards the end the week we looked at the Chinese flag, discussing the similarities and differences to the United Kingdom flag.

Flying Start @ Camborne Enjoy Instruments

Flying Start Camborne Enjoy Construction

The Pre-school children @ Flying Start Camborne have been working on their team work and look at the wonderful castle they made. It started as an animal castle and transformed into a superhero den, who were saving the animals. The children really demonstrated their developing communication and social skills.
