Flying Start Nurseries Home Learning Plan For Babies!

Flying Start Nurseries Home Learning Plan For Babies!

So many children have enjoyed the Bear Hunt plan that went out last week via EYLog.

We have seen some great evidence of children looking high and children looking low for hidden teddy bears, in their lounge, in their bathroom, in their garden and even out on a walk!

Great mathematical language and concept development focusing on: under, on top, behind, low, high, next to! And of course a LOT OF FUN was had chasing around trying to find the hidden bears!

Thankyou to all the parents who uploaded some fantastic photographs and videos of your little one’s learning at home!

Flying Start Families Feed The Birds!

Flying Start’s Learning @ Home: Making Bird Feeders!

Preschool children have been practicing their fine motor skills, threading hoop cereal onto string or pipe cleaners to make bird feeders…

Some children practiced their counting skills as they threaded each hoop, some made different shaped bird feeders, some identified the different shades of dark and light brown they could see in the hoops and some talked about who might want to nibble their bird feeder!

The whole family joined in here.. with a baby sister doing some fantastic threading…

Then on their daily walk the children hunted for the best place to hang the birdfeeder, some went high, some went low and some families left several in an experiment to see which was eaten first!

In the garden some children made a den and became bird watchers for a while, waiting and waiting to see who came for a little snack!

Flying Start Home Learning Starts With A Bang! Crash! Ding!

Flying Start Home Learning Plans Are Underway!

Families across Cornwall and Plymouth have started their home learning plans, which are being posted straight onto their child’s learning story twice weekly!

These plans give some age/stage specific fun ideas to try and also help keep your child’s learning story active, so we can see how your little one is getting on… this will really help their transition back to nursery in the near future also!

Our first plan for everyone to have a go at was to  MAKE SOME NOISE! Using household items, pots, pans and anything you could find to explore different sounds. although parents with older children we are yet to see any evidence of the ’family band’ challenge?!
If you haven’t had a go yet, get involved and pop it on your child’s EYLog!

We are enjoying the drier weather and making ball runs, obstacle courses and taking our learning outside!

We are open, grouping our children into nurseries with higher demand, keeping high hygiene, lots of hand washing and lots of outdoor play!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Clean Up!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Clean Up!

This week the Pre-school children have been learning a little about our environments and how to look after it. So together we  decided to do a littler pick outside our nursery to make it look nice. We saw a bin that was attached to a wall and was disappointed that people don’t use it.

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Have A Science Week

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Have A Science Week

We have had a whole week of carrying out scientific experiments, which have been so fun!

We have been  observing how slices of lemons  fizz when you add bicarbonate of soda and vinegar, looking at the patterns and colours that run from different sweets when liquids are added and we have even made our own explosive volcano’s.

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Get Cooking!

The toddlers have started the year with a weekly cooking club which promotes healthy eating!

We chopped up the vegetables with little support and worked as a team to mix all the ingredients up. We then served our own soup up for afternoon snack, and surprised our Preschool friends with a nice bowl of warm soup, learning to be kind to our friends!

What a kind gesture toddlers!

Flying Start Walk Around The World In……How Many Days?

Flying Start Are Going To Walk Around The World! It takes 20 million steps and we want to help our staff become more active so we are taking on the challenge… but the question is… how long will it take our staff teams, and how many times can we go around our world?! Your nursery team will be recording their steps, and children and parents will be encouraged in their own challenge! So how about parking your car a little further away and walking some extra steps to nursery, going out for a walk at the weekend, or even doing a teeth cleaning march! Lets all get fit this February and Walk Around The World!
