Flying Start @ Cornwall College Go To Porthtowan for Beach School!
The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have started up again with weekly visits to the beach for beach school fun and learning!
The children all packed up their things to take to the beach and went in the Flying Start bus to Porthtowan beach, which was exciting in itself!
They spent most of the session learning about beach safety as it is their first visit to the beach in a while… They found where the lifeguard hut was, and spotted the lifeguards in their truck on the beach watching the sea and the swimmers and surfers in there. They talked about stranger danger and about where they would go if they got lost or hurt and couldn’t see the nursery grown ups… they decided they would go back to the lifeguards on the beach or in their hut.
They also identified the flags on the beach, and learned what they meant…and  played a game where we said if we wanted to go swimming or surfing and then had to run to the right flag!
Then the children went on a hunt finding stones, seaweed, pebbles and sand to build houses for our little dinosaurs, we built some amazing houses with beds and seaweed roofs!
A great first trip, and the children and staff are looking forward to many more!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Do Gym Club!
The pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been having great fun at gym club!
To link in with their transport learning theme, they have been exploring the ways different modes of transport move…
They practiced the skill of jumping, remembering to bend their knees to spring up off the floor and to softly land!
They also explored transport movements… they rolled like wheels, stretched their wings and took off from a crouch gathering speed until we they were running down the runway! And they even tried slithering like
submarines.
After their cool down, all the children put their shoes and socks on themselves – good practice ready for school PE lessons!

Flying Start @ Cornwall College Explore Senses At Forest School!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Cornwall College have been having a great time exploring their senses during Forest School…
They have been exploring scents and smells, as well as sight… First they used their magnifying glasses to see what they could spot, and then they used their fingers to rub the different leaves and plants, and to see what they smell like!

Then the children collected things that they could find that had fallen to the ground… and went back to nursery to make their own potions in the nursery garden!!
They kept on smelling their potions as they added more and more ingredients… and they even added some special colours to make them really magical!
Great exploring, Cornwall College!
