The Tiger Who Came To Tea
The children have been reading this story at nursery, role playing their very own tea parties. And just like at the end of the story where ‘Mummy, Daddy and Sophie’ go to a café, our children got to experience the very same thing! We visited the college café where all the children got to enjoy a hot chocolate!

Preschool have had a very special visitor in to talk to them about their teeth.
Vanessa is a dental nurse, her and her colleague came to show us some exciting things they do in their job. Including some extracted teeth! They blew up gloves to make balloons and gave us activity packs to send home. Everybody went to the bathroom and brushed their teeth with the new toothpaste the ladies brought with them.

Flying Start @ Duchy Learn About Staying Healthy!!
Pre-school have been looking at our bodies and how we can keep them healthy, they took part in a gym club session.
We all took our shoes and socks off and all took part in a warm up which involved jumping, running on the spot and side steps!!
The children all felt the difference between their heart beat before and after the warm up. We then took it in turns to jump across the shark infested pond using the lily pads, all children explored different ways of moving.
After this, we did a cool down activity which involved lots of pushing and pulling, we sat in pairs and sang and did the actions to row row your boat and seesaw Margery daw.

Flying Start @ Helston On A Day Out!!!!
The Pre-schoolers and Toddlers went on a trip to the boating lake today. We took our snack to eat down there and stopped in the café for a Babyccino. Before we came back to Nursery, there was time for a play in the park. Lots of fun was had on the swings and slides!!!
Flying Start @ Duchy Dig Into Harvest
We have had a busy few weeks in preschool, the children started to learn about Harvest festival. They firstly started off by reading the scarecrows wedding, from this they decided they wanted to make their own scarecrow! The children then made a display board: they collected leaves in the forest and brought them back to nursery, they then used these to do some leaf painting, there was lots of talk about why the leaves have fallen of the trees and why they turn brown.
We then looked at lots of food which are Harvested and found out where in the world these foods come from and had a look on a world map.
They then decided what they needed to use to make their scarecrow.
We then took a trip to Lifton farm shop where the children got to look at lots of different fruit and vegetables and choose which ones they wanted to use to make their own soup. The children also chose a loaf of bread to go with their soup. We then had a look at all the sunflowers and had a play in the park. When they got back to nursery, the children all used the vegetables and made some yummy soup.
We then started to look at wheat and what it is used for, we read the story of the little red hen and the children found out that wheat is used to make bread. We then painted pictures of wheat and used some wheat to make some corn dolls.

Preschool have been exploring transient art using a range of materials to build pictures of faces as well as their families at the park and swimming trips.
Flying Start @ Helston Go To The Recycling Centre
The Toddlers and Preschool children went on a trip to the recycling centre.
They looked at the images on the side of the containers and spoke about how the pictures stand for what items can go in each of the recycling bins. Then the children put in our recycling from Nursery.
Following on from the trip to the recycling centre, the preschool children came back to nursery and helped Danielle create a display board, using items that can be recycled, talking about the importance of recycling in helping the planet.

The babies and the toddlers went on a muddy puddle walk, they went in search around the college for some muddy puddles and found some.
The children enjoyed jumping in the puddles and seeing the water splash everywhere.
They then went for a run across the field.
