What’s even more fun than playing in the nursery garden? How about a *music wall* in the nursery garden!
The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Saltash have made an amazing music wall in their garden, to make music outdoors!
They’ve attached all different heuristic items including saucepans, utensils, and spanners, and suspended them at different heights and on different surfaces, to make different noises!
The children have been having the best time making music and trying out different tools to play the musical wall with…
They have had great fun exploring different sounds, playing different parts of the wall together, and even dancing along… and all out in the garden and the fresh air too!

The children did some large scale art in the garden, working together to paint their own huge Flora (our logo) onto a big sheet!
Then they collected up sticks to make a big number 26 too, and also made some ribbon sticks and danced to party music in the garden!
Then the nursery hosted a party tea, with delicious party food, where some parents and families came in to join the fun
And then they went to St. Anne’s Residential home, to visit the residents and do some painting, and enjoy some nice times with them too!
What a wonderful range of ways to celebrate Flying Start’s 26th Birthday!

Flying Start @ Duchy celebrated Flora (the little girl in our logo flying her kite!) & Flying Start’s 26th birthday with a whole day of fun birthday activities!
The babies and toddlers took part in some large
scale art in the garden to decorate a big birthday banner which they now have displayed outside the nursery!
They also enjoyed making some fairy cakes for their party afternoon snack, and decorated them with colourful icing!
The pre-school children worked really hard to find some natural materials in the forest to then bring back and make their own natural Flora designs out of these items!
The children also made crowns to wear for their party snacktime and tucked into their delicious cakes!
What delighted faces enjoying birthday celebrations!

Flying Start @ Duchy Get Creative In The Forest!
/in GeneralFlying Start @ Duchy Get Creative In The Forest!
Wow, check out Flying Start @ Duchy getting creative during forest school doing a process called ‘happa zome’…
The children have been really enjoying making different patterns using natural objects and materials.
To do ‘happa zome’, the children firstly look around and collect natural items of their choice, then they wrap them in material, and then bang them with a hammer or something heavy like a rock!
This creates a unique pattern on the material, which they unwrap to reveal!
The children were experimenting with lots of different items and predicting what the pattern would look like once they had ‘bashed’ it!
Plus, they had some really important conversations about keeping safe when using hammers and heavy objects
Great work, Duchy!
