Flying Start @ Duchy Host Forest School Stay & Play!

Flying Start @ Duchy Host Forest School Stay & Play!

Flying Start @ Duchy were delighted to invite the toddler parents in to join them for their forest session!

They went on a special forest trail to find various creatures and were very lucky to find a worm, a spider and a bird!

The children and adults all listened to the sounds along the way and identified what they thought they were, found lots of leaves and matched them to the trees…

And then of course had some fun playing in the mud, making pies!

A huge thanks to the parents and guardians who came along to join in with the forest fun!

Flying Start @ Helston Visit Culdrose Fire Station!

Flying Start @ Helston Visit Culdrose Fire Station!
Look at these fab photos of Flying Start @ Helston visiting Culdrose Fire Station!

The pre-children went on this very exciting trip, where they got to meet the firefighters who told them all about their important job helping people.

There was a huge fire engine there, which the firefighters showed them had big ladders and hoses…
…and the children got to put on their very own fire helmets…
…and then sit in the fire engine like the firefighters would…
…and they even got to have a go spraying the huge water hose!!
You just have to look at these brilliant photos to see how much fun they had!

A huge thank you to Culdrose fire station and the firefighters there for welcoming the pre-school children up to visit, and teaching them so much in an unforgettable trip!

Flying Start @ Duchy Build In The Garden!

Flying Start @ Duchy Build In The Garden!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Duchy have been using their imagination and working in teams to build in the nursery garden using loose parts!

They made a car out of the loose parts, and had to work together to lift some of the items as they were too heavy to lift on their own…

Then they used their imagination and went on lots of exciting car journeys together!

Flying Start @ Saltash’s Woodwork!

Flying Start @ Saltash’s Holiday Club Woodwork Fun!

The preschool and holiday club have been busy in Half Term…

Using their Woodwork kit they have been planning, designing and then crafting using drills, hammers and screw drivers. With their protective equipment on, they got stuck in!

They planned what they were going to build and then added to their plans each week, using a lego challenge chart to track their progress!

It was really exciting for the children who are that little bit older than our nursery children, to be challenged with different tools and skills, that were visibly improving with their practising.

Flying Start @ Helston Wash Wash Wash Their Hands!

Flying Start @ Helston’s Toddlers Beat The Germs!

The children have been learning all about routines, specifically meal times and bed times… and with this comes hand washing and cleaning.

Discussing when they need to wash their hands and then how they do it, of course meant lots of practice was required!

Sleeves up, taps on, soap squirted…

Rub, rub, rub… fronts of hands, backs of hands, in between the fingers, scrub, scrub, scrub those germs away!

Wash it off, dry it off and in the bin it goes!

We always encouraged our children to learn these important hygiene skills so that they can start to lead their own independent routines and help to keep themselves clean and healthy!

Flying Start @ Saltash Clean Some BIG Teeth!

Flying Start @ Saltash Learn How To Keep Their Teeth Clean…

Last half term the children were learning all about People Who Help Them in their Room 3.

The children showed a real interest for doctors, nurses, dentists and all of those jobs that care for each other. With role play opportunities set up the children acted out these roles together and started to talk about how to keep healthy and who to go to for some help with this.

The children took teeth cleaning to a new level when talking about the Dentist!

With BIG mouths and molars, the children used their magnifying glasses to see if there were any spots on the teeth that needed some care and attention.

Then using tooth brushes they dipped in water and had a go at scrubbing, exploring round motions, back and forth and up and down – helping to improve their control with a toothbrush!

What a great way to make teeth cleaning fun!

Flying Start @ Duchy’s Babies Make Sense, Of Their Senses!

Flying Start @ Duchy Explore Their Senses With Exciting Experiences…

Trying new tastes through food exploration,

Exploring paint with their bodies… which was very slimy on their toes!

And when brushes just didn’t cut it, full tummy time exploration occurred!

The babies have also been exploring different textures, with wobbly jelly, dry hay and then some water play as well! Lots of free exploration has brought a lot of fun and making connections in their experiences.
