Flying Start @ Helston Meet A Vet And A 12 Week Old Puppy! 

The Preschool children at Helston nursery are learning all about different Occupations. They have been for a walk through the town and found lots of different businesses and jobs, but have shown a real interest in caring for animals!

After a visit to Trevaskis farm, the children have now started to learn about caring for poorly animals at the Vets!

A Vet came in to the nursery with lots of her equipment and talked to the children about her job and how she looks after animals.

She also brought a special visitor…. 12 week old sausage dog Gem!

After lots of cuddles, they learnt about how Gem will grow and when she will need to go to the vets to have her injections and checks.

The children had a go at using lots of the equipment which has inspired them in their role play!

Flying Start @ Saltash Are Learning About People Who Help Us, With The Help From The Fire Brigade

The Preschool children have been learning about different occupations and the people in the community who can help and care for us, the Fire Service kindly came along to show the children the Fire Engine, the equipment they use and to listen to what their jobs involve.

The most exciting part was definitely testing out the hose and its amazing water pressure… it went a long way!

Thank you to the Fire Service for taking the time to help the children learn about their role in our local community and how they help to keep people safe.

Flying Start @ Duchy Explore The Forest In The Snow!

Preschool had a chilly trip to the forest in the SNOW!

Wrapping up warm the children headed out on their usual daily forest school, however noticed one major difference… it was white!

Feeling the crunch under foot they explored the different textures … slush, snow, ice and felt how cold it really was!

They made snow angels, and snow balls before heading back to get warm with a hot chocolate!

Flying Start @ Duchy Use Dough to Develop Fine Motor Skills…

Rolling the dough until it was flat, and then exploring making different marks in the dough with different actions and tools.

The children particularly liked using the scissors to make snips in the dough, which also helps develop their hand strength for learning important writing skills!

Flying Start @ Helston Baked Spinach Muffins!

The Toddlers and Preschool children at Flying Start @ Helston have been finding ways to get their fruit and vegetables into their baking!

The Nursery Cook Stacey encouraged them to try Spinach, and then they hid it in their cheesey muffins!

The children had a go at mixing, measuring, stirring and then of course taste testing… they were a big success!

Flying Start @ Saltash’s Babies Visit The Animals at Saltash.net

The Babies walked to the local secondary school where they have lots of animals.

Meeting goats, chickens and rabbits outside the children then had fun splashing in the puddles. They got to say hello to the animals, and get really close with a little petting also!

Then when the children went inside they got to meet Ben and Jerry, the guinea pigs!

The children thought they were very funny in the way they moved and squeaked.

Flying Start @ Saltash Have A Visit From The Local Police!

The children at Flying Start @ Saltash had a very exciting visit this week, when the local Police force came by to meet the children!

The children got to have their fingerprints taken using the inkpad, and they were fascinated by the different lines and patterns made by their fingers!

The children listened to some lovely stories about how the police have helped people in the community!

Then they listened to a funny story, which they made the characters for using face templates – complete with pom poms and leaves!

   

A huge thank you to the local Police force for giving up their time to come into the nursery!

Flying Start @ Duchy Babies Do Big Scale Painting!

The baby department at Flying Start @ Duchy have been exploring big painting using their whole bodies!

The key-workers got the children ready in their all-in-one suits, spread paper out across the floor, put out some brightly coloured paints, and off they went!

The babies used their hands and feet to make different marks with the paint, and they tried out different tools too!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Saltash have been having great fun in the garden!

They have been exploring and building using the large construction resources… together they built with the large planks, to make a see-saw!

 

They experimented with sitting on the see-saw, and trying to balance it out together, and then making each other go up and down…

What great teamwork to build and experiment together!

Flying Start @ Helston’s Preschoolers Post Their Letters

As the preschool department are learning about their local community, they decided to write letters and take a trip into town to the Post Office.

The children had written their letters, but needed to buy envelopes and stamps. They found where they needed to queue and then got some help at the counter.

They then found their post box and sent their letters! The children got to chat to the staff that worked in the post office, learning about the jobs they do.
