Flying Start @ Saltash Make Forest School Crafts!

Flying Start @ Saltash Make Forest School Crafts!

Flying Start @ Saltash have been having great fun on their forest school outings, despite the colder weather! They’ve been wrapping up warm and in their waterproofs, and getting out for some fun activities…

The children searched high and low, and collected sticks and natural treasures…

And then they practised making different patterns with them, balancing on them, using them as broomsticks (!), and even making their own see-saws with them!

Then they made a woodland washing line with all their creations strung up along it… how wonderful does it look!

What fantastic, imaginative times in the forest!

Flying Start @ Duchy Learn About American Thanksgiving Celebrations!

Flying Start @ Duchy Learn About American Thanksgiving Celebrations!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Duchy have been learning about Thanksgiving, which is a national celebration in America!

The children have read the story to learn what it is all about, and decided to recreate it… So they made their own boats and acted out the discovery of the United States!

They even took this theme to Forest School, where they made their own mini boats out of sticks and natural resources, and then raced them down the stream!

Back at nursery, the children all had a think about what they wanted to give thanks for, and they made their own ‘thankful tree’!

Then they went on a walk into their local community to visit the actual post office!

The children were very excited to write a letter, address the envelope, and then buy and stick on a stamp!

Flying Start @ Helston Celebrate Diwali Festival!

Flying Start @ Helston Celebrate Diwali Festival!

The children at Flying Start @ Helston have all been celebrating and exploring Diwali festival!

The toddlers and preschool have been making candle holders out of clay, which are a key part of the festival and are called ‘Diyas’.

The children shaped the clay holders, and then added glitter!

Once they were completely dry, the children took them home to show to their parents & families!

The pre-schoolers have also been exploring the beautiful decorations that people put on their hands with mendhi during Diwali – so they had a go at painting their own patters on a hand outline!

Finally, the preschool children got involved in creating some large scale Rangolis – which are the colourful shapes that get created on the floor during Diwali!

The children were very excited to join in with each other, and drew some beautiful colourful designs!

Well done Helston, what lovely ways to celebrate and learn about Diwali!
