Flying Start @ Saltash Join In With Children In Need!

Every year, Children in Need is an amazing fundraising effort that takes place across the country, with the famous Pudsey bear, and raises money for lots of worthwhile children’s charities!

 

 

Flying Start @ Saltash joined in with Children in Need by colouring in special blank Pudsey Bears, and dressing up in spots and bright colours!

 

 

Look at the amazing concentration to colour in their pudseys!

Flying Start @ Duchy were invited to a remembrance service at Duchy college…the children all stood and listened really carefully to the service, and kept really quiet for the 1 minute of silence.
They have been talking all about what Remembrance Day is, and the children have been making their own poppies with brightly coloured red paint.
Then they went out on a walk, and the staff helped them put their poppies on the trees going all the way up the drive to the nursery…
What a beautiful way to mark the day 🏵️

Flying Start @ Saltash Celebrate Diwali!

The whole nursery at Flying Start @ Saltash celebrated and explored Diwali, the festival of lights!

They made Rangoli pictures in the forest from leaves, flowers and twigs. Rangoli pictures are traditionally made on the floor during Diwali, with coloured rice and powder!

Back at nursery, the children explored light and dark by inspecting their leaves from the forest school, on the top of the lightbox!

They also made a very colourful display from their beautiful paintings using printing, and splatter paint…

…and then they coloured some traditional Mehndi patterns and drew patterns on hands!

Flying Start @ Helston Make 100 Poppies for Remembrance Day!
Flying Start @ Helston have created a display of 100 poppies for 100 years… wow!
 
All of the nursery children and staff joined in to make poppies… colouring them, painting them, and the pre-schoolers even used lolly pop sticks and bun cases to make 3D poppies!
 
Then the staff helped make it into an incredible display, which is up in the foyer of the nursery.
 
The children also took poppies home to show their families for Remembrance Day, which they were very proud of.

Flying Start @ Saltash Make Halloween Cakes At Residential Home!

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Saltash have been enjoying Halloween activities with their local community, as well as at nursery!

The toddlers went on a visit to their local residential home St. Annes, where they decorated Halloween cakes together with the residents!

Everyone got stuck in to mix up the icing, and create their spooky designs… and once they had made their masterpieces, they all enjoyed tucking into their yummy sweet treat!

A lovely way for the children and the residents to enjoy Halloween together!

Flying Start @ Helston Host Halloween Stay & Play!

Flying Start @ Helston hosted a special Stay & Play for Halloween, for all the parents and families to come and join the fun at nursery…

Some of the children came in Halloween fancy dress, and there was a photo booth to play dress up in!

There were lots of Halloween themed activities set up across the nursery… In the toddler room the lights were turned off, spooky music was put on and there were lots of lights and torches to explore!

Everyone got creative with Halloween biscuit decorating & colouring in!

In the sensory room they did painting and apple stamping to make pumpkin pictures!

The children also explored spooky jelly and spaghetti worms with lots of different Halloween sensory play!

Then for snack all the children and parents went into the preschool room to have a healthy Halloween snack!

Wow, what a Halloween extravaganza…

The team at Flying Start @ Saltash hosted a special Halloween party for all the children, and some of their parents and families too!

 

 

They had some amazing healthy Halloween snacks… who knew fruit could be so spooky!

 

 

They also hosted a pumpkin competition, with lots of differently shaped and coloured pumpkins, and lots of brilliant entries!

  

The children did some dancing, and had great fun! Well done Flying Start @ Saltash for hosting such a spook-tacular party!

The children have been exploring loose parts, making mud pies in the mud kitchen…

…playing in the play house and using their physical skills to climb up the slide!

Flying Start @ Saltash Visit Churchtown Farm!

Some of the children at Flying Start @ Saltash went on a trip into their local community, to visit the  Church town farm!

The children all wore their high visibility vests, and looked carefully at the map of the whole farm…

As they walked around, they listened out for all the different noises, and helped it guide them to spot birds, cows and dogs!

They also did a nature trail and found lots of different items including flowers, leaves, feathers, and sticks, which they collected as treasure!

A huge thanks to Churchtown farm for welcoming the nursery children, for such a brilliant trip exploring nature!

Flying Start @ Helston Toddlers Bake Beetroot Brownies!

 

The toddlers at Flying Start @ Helston have been loving their cooking club recently!

To explore healthier treats, the children did some baking of Chocolate & Beetroot brownies! They talked about how good beetroot is for them, and once it was mixed in with the cocoa, they could hardly taste it in the finished muffins…

 

 

The children all had great fun stirring up the mixture with all the ingredients, and taking in turns!

 

And then the staff took the brownies off to be cooked and cooled, so that the children could tuck in & take them home too… they tasted delicious!
