Flying Start @ Helston Visit Local Museum!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Helston went on an exciting trip into their local community, to visit the Helston Museum!

The children got to learn lots about what it would’ve been like to be a child back in Victorian times…

And even experienced an old-fashioned school, as well as getting to try on traditional clothes!

The children had a great time – they were fascinated and got to really experience history! A huge thank you to the local museum for hosting the children for this fantastic trip!

Flying Start @ Saltash Do Large Scale Mark-Making!

The babies and toddlers at Flying Start @ Saltash have been enjoying doing some large scale artwork this week…

They have been using chalks to draw and make marks on the floors!

They were very excited at getting to draw everywhere they could find on the floor, and all added their own drawings to the masterpiece!

They had great fun and used all the space that was available to them to be creative!

Flying Start @ Helston Pre-Schoolers Plant Seeds!

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Helston have decided to grow some vegetables in their nursery garden, which they can look after and eventually eat!

The children are very excited to see their plants grow, and to eat their homegrown vegetables in the future!

First things first, the pre-school department took a trip to a local shop to buy seeds that they could plant this time of year… the shop-keeper spoke to them about growing different vegetables, and gave them lots of information!

Then they returned to the nursery to plant them. As the weather wasn’t very good outside, the children planted half their seeds in pots inside, and next week they will plant the other half in their newly weeded raised bed outside!

Flying Start @ Duchy Pre-Schoolers Visit Exotic Animals!

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Duchy went on a visit to the exotic animal centre on the college campus this week!

They were very interested to see a range of different animals, including snakes, spiders and terrapins!

They were also shown a spider shedding, which looked exactly like the spider itself! The children were completely fascinated by this.

The children enjoyed learning about the different habitats of the animals, and the different things they each needed to keep them healthy.

Thanks to the Duchy College Exotic Animal Centre for hosting the pre-school children for a visit!

Flying Start @ Helston Get Fruity!

The children at Flying Start @ Helston have been enjoying activities all about fruit – that encourage fun and exciting ways to focus on fruit!

The babies have been out into the nearby natural surroundings, to pick blackberries into bowls, to make into blackberry crumble – yum!

Meanwhile, the pre-schoolers have been trying their hand at making smoothies… they’ve been packing them with fruit, and then having a go at whizzing it all up in the special blender!

Great ways to explore fruit and being healthy in an exciting way!
