Flying Start @ Duchy’s Babies Enjoyed Music, Bubbles and Stories On Their Library Visit!
The babies walked to the library in the village from the nursery, and were greeted with an exciting music session!
Listening to a guitar the babies were excited by lots of songs about animals using different props, the children stayed engaged by getting more physical… bouncing up and down and moving around the room to the music!
The babies then explored some new book, turning the pages and enjoying recognising familiar pictures and pointing to what they knew.
Thankyou to the library for making the babies so welcome and providing such an exciting session!

Flying Start @ Helston Get Creative With Motion in the Ocean Theme!
The toddlers at Flying Start @ Helston have been getting creative!
They have been making, painting, cutting and sticking to create lots of different sea creatures for their learning theme, ‘Motion in the Ocean’!
The children worked really hard on their brilliant painting – and got very stuck in as you can see from the photos!
Once they have all dried through, they will be hung from the toddler room ceiling to make the illusion that it is under the water!

Flying Start @ Duchy Babies Explore Beach Role Play!

The baby department at Flying Start @ Duchy have been focusing on the beach as their theme for this half term!
The children have been exploring beach dress up… including arm bands, rubber rings, and beach clothes! The staff have also been talking to the children about why it is important to wear certain items for safety when they’re at the beach!
The staff filled the large sensory tray with sand to re-create the beach, and the babies have been loving playing in it, building sandcastles, and getting covered in sand!!

Flying Start @ Duchy Do Life-Size Drawings!

The pre-school department at Flying Start @ Duchy have started their exciting new learning theme, ‘All About Me’.

To kick off their new theme, they started with an exciting art activity… they taped large pieces of paper on the floor, lay down on them and lay very still, and then an adult drew around them to get their full-size outline!

The children then talked about themselves and what they needed to add to their bodies. The children talked about eyes to see, ears to hear and various clothes to keep them warm!

The children were so proud of their finished artwork & very excited to show their families at home time!!

Flying Start @ Saltash Cool Off!

The children have been drinking lots of icy cold water, practicing pouring it themselves.

And playing in water, inside and outside to cool down after lots of sunshine!

They have also been enjoying lots of healthy fruit snacks and talking about how to keep healthy and sun safe… lets hope the sun lasts long enough for a nice summer!

The baby department at Flying Start @ Helston have been exploring paint!
To go with their learning theme of ‘the zoo’ this term, they made green spiral snakes from paper plates!
The babies got stuck right in using their hands to spread the green paint all around the plate for a great effect! They also used objects like blocks to do some printing – to make lovely patterns!
The staff helped them cut their snakes into spirals… and look how great the finished product looks!

The pre-schoolers at Flying Start @ Duchy had a really special visit from the RNLI, where they learned all about beach
and water safety!
   
The children were shown flags that they may see on the beach, and learned what they each mean…
They were also shown lots of useful pictures, and even shown what the lifeguards wear and how they can always help out if there is a problem…
The children were fully engaged with their listening ears, and have been talking about it ever since!
A huge thank you to the RNLI for such a brilliant informative session, and for taking the time to visit the nursery!

Flying Start @ Duchy Enjoy Dentists Role Play! 

The pre-school children at Flying Start @ Duchy have been enjoying their new Dentists role play!

The children have been dressing up as dentists, taking notes, and taking it in turns to visit the dentists!

It has also been a good opportunity for the staff to start lots of conversations about dental hygiene, and how important it is that we brush our teeth well!

Flying Start @ Camborne Have A Visit From A Police Officer!
Flying Start @ Camborne have been very lucky to have visits from people who help us, and this week they had a visit from a police officer called Jenny!
Jenny told the pre-school children all about her job, and how the police help us in many different ways!
She also brought her road safety box and the children all had a chance to be the lollipop person who made sure the other children didn’t cross until it was safe… look at them practising on their zebra crossing!
Jenny was very impressed with the pre-school children as they listened very well and asked her important questions… one of their questions was “why does your jacket have so many pockets?” and she carefully showed the children all the different things she has to carry, which make her jacket quite heavy!
The children were also really curious about her hat – and luckily for them, she had bought a few for the children to try on!
Thank you so much to the     local PCO Jenny, who took the time to come to the nursery and share all about her important job with the children – they had a fantastic time & learned lots!

Flying Start @ Duchy Go For A Picnic!

Flying Start @ Duchy have been making the most of the beautiful weather recently! They’ve been putting their sun cream and sun hats on and getting out and about for lots of walks around the amazing college grounds…

On this especially sunny day, all of the children & staff went for a big walk together, and then all sat down for a picnic snack!

They sat out their picnic rug, and all had snack time together. Whilst they were eating, they  spotted horses and a tractor!
