Focusing on developing hand and finger strength, coordination and skills such as fine and gross movements the children do daily activities to get their brains working and hands moving!

This in turn benefits so many aspects of their daily routine and learning goals, such as better pencil control for mark making, more controlled movements using cutlery and stronger grasps.

Here the children enjoyed a Dough Disco… play dough to music!

Stretching, Twisting, Squeezing, Patting, Rolling and Poking in time to the beat!

Flying Start @ Saltash’s Independent Children!

Flying Start @ Saltash have some very independent children!

The nursery has been promoting the area of the EYFS curriculum called ‘Health and Self-Care’ which falls under your child’s Physical Development.

With the toddlers and preschool children this means encouraging the children to make their own choices, try self care routines themselves such as putting their coat on or brushing their teeth and developing their independence at meal and snack times.

The children are really starting to do so much themselves! And saying ‘no’ to an adults help!

Why not try giving your child a little more responsibility at home… can they try washing up their own spoon and bowl?!

This could really work in your favour parents and carers!

Flying Start @ Helstons’ Bakery Visit…

Flying Start @ Helston have visited the bakery!

The children in preschool have had a special outing to the bakery to see what they have for sale, and to buy some tasty little treats!

The children felt with their fingers, looked with their eyes, listened and even tried to smell …
